Blackjack's Thread of Illness and Ailments
Pretty sure I have golfer's elbow. Funny since I haven't played golf in over 2 years. I actually think it came from shooting wrist shots at my kids' dek hockey practices. Thought it would just go away, but even after icing, stretching, and some ibuprofen, it's still nagging.

I had that really bad about 10 years ago. I was going to PT and it was getting better albeit slowly. one day I show up for PT and my therapist was out. the sub therapist was certified in dry needling so she asked if I wanted to try it. sure, why not? I walked out 15 minutes later with no pain and it hasn't returned since.Pretty sure I have golfer's elbow. Funny since I haven't played golf in over 2 years. My wife is a huge proponent of dry needling. She learned it in WI. Not legal in PA. Sad.

If you were still in AP, I may have had to hire her as a consultant. I'm sure my wife would do it, but she's certified in PA so pretty sure she didn't learn any of it.My wife is a huge proponent of dry needling. She learned it in WI. Not legal in PA. Sad.
Found some stretches online that I'll try for a few days before going to PT

I have a wicked case of Achilles tendonitis. I've had chronic plantar fasciitis for the last decade but this is a whole new level of pain. I can barely put weight on that leg (actually, it bears weight fine but damn does it hurt to push off or stabilize).
I've been planning this NC vacation for a year and now I can barely walk let alone play golf or son general tourist stuff. I leave Wednesday.
Thoughts and prayers, plz.

This is murder. I'm sitting here contemplating home amputation at the moment.
I think my podiatrist/GP is off today on account of it being a federal holiday. I guess I just go to MedExpress and follow up with my regular guy later? I'm using a golf club as a cane and it's barely able to get me around.

Maybe you can get a cortisone shot?

Aw man... sorry, dodint. Achilles pain absolutely sucks. I badly strained mine a few years ago helping a friend move mulch in his yard. Evidently pushing a heavy wheelbarrow up an incline 20 or 30 times in a day without stretching isn't a great idea. I was down and out for 4 or 5 days and wasn't completely right for almost a month...and still cringe today. I was an idiot though and didn't go to a doctor. This is murder. MedExpress may be able to prescribe you something topical to help...or possibly a shot maybe?
I wore something very similar to this support after day 1. Might actually be the exact one. Nothing fancy, but I could get a shoe over it. Really helped when sleeping...and I still use it from time to time.

When it woke me up in my sleep last night I knew I was ****. Hoping MedExpress will recommend a boot or splint.
5 days seems doable. The timing is horrible. Vacation on Wednesday and today is my wife's last day in an outpatient PT clinic, could have had free stim and ultrasound.

Stim packs are only like $40 on Amazon (we each have our own, woot).
Stim and heat, stim and heat. And immobilize. All things that go great with vacation.

I've been there with the achilles pain. a $35 boot off of Amazon did the trick.

Then ice it, I don't care. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to live.

What would you do? Bengay?I would not heat an Achilles injury…

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

Looks like I didn't tear anything. The Achilles is inflamed. Bigger issue is the muscle connected to it is badly strained. That's where my sharp stabbing pain is coming from.
I bought a brace very similar to the one in the picture posted by genoscoif. And MedExpress gave crutches. So I can get around some.
Went by my wife's PT clinic and got some ultrasound, H Wave stim, and ran through some stretches with the PT. My wife is borrowing a stim machine from a friend for us to take with.
I can not complain. Short of hiring some plebes to carry me around everything that possibly could be done, has. Just need to heal up.
I didn't mention how I strained it. I squat lifted an engine block into the back of my van, on my own, on Thursday. Didn't hurt at the time but slowly tightened up over the next two days until it locked up completely. Lesson learned on that one.

Is it your shift or gas/brake foot?

Clutch foot, but the family truckster is an automatic and I am not racing again until August.

Anyone ever deal with meralgia paresthetica? (outer thigh numbness caused by a compressed nerve).
I self diagnosed and have been doing stretches but it doesn't seem to be helping. Thinking it may be time to call a chiropractor

Dude, you're almost 40. I could have told you that wasn't going to work out well for you.
