I get mine on Sunday. My daughter had hers last week, and did say that she couldn't lift her arm for the first day or so. I thought she was just being a little whiny, but I guess I'll find out soon enough.Holy hell... I'll tell yinz this: the flu shot hurts this year. I could barely lift my arm above my shoulder most of the day yesterday and it's still sore into today.

Nope... it's legit. Everyone at work was saying about how sore their arm was yesterday. Some people even got queezy and had the chills for the first 15-30 minutes after the injection.

<knocks on wood> I've never had the flu or a flu shot in my 45 years on this fair planet. Blessed? <knocks on wood>
I highly recommend looking into whether or not your health insurance covers massage therapy. My plan allows one session per month, and it's fantastic. I usually get an adjustment first and then a full body deep tissue massage right after. I feel like a new man.

I hadn't had the flu or a flu shot up until my wife got pregnant. One of those choose your battle things... she wanted me to get it, I didn't want to but it wasn't worth arguing over and everything that I was reading at the time said if you have immunocompromised people (pregnant lady... new born child... etc) you should just get it. So I did. No biggie.

I've been working in healthcare for over a decade now, and the flu shot has always been a requirement.

I'm a believer, especially after my last bout with it. I had the shot, my dad didn't. He still passed it to me, but it ran it's course in me after about 5 days. Pops, however, ended up being sent to the ER by his doc because his fever was spiking and it was affecting his heart. Ended up on IV fluids and was prescribed the really strong flu meds.

I have two kids in public schools, married to a public school teacher, and work with filthy college students. How have I not had it yet?

Got my shot this year and didn't hurt at all.

It’s all the same. You’re just the leading flu shot tough guy for the season.

Sure does. Did you pinpoint the source? I found myself not eating at Chipotle for a good 4 years after getting food poisoning from them.

Anyone dealt with a concussion before? Is it normal to wake up with a headache even one week after? I'm still not allowed work and have limited screen time, but I hate that I wake up with a headache even though I'm following everything about rest
Blackjack's Thread of Illness and Ailments
Yes. All of that is normal.
I've had two within the last 3 years (Nov. 2016, January 2018). The 2016 one was mostly just foggy, groggy, with a headache right above my eyebrows for about 2 weeks. Slowly subsided and I was cleared exactly a month after I got it.
2018 was different. I had the headache for about 3 weeks, got a migraine from sound the 2nd week, and then also had some vertigo and attention issues. If I rotated quickly, I'd get dizzy and a headache, and I found myself having trouble multitasking while I was dealing with it. That one lasted almost 2 months and I still can't multitask as well as I used to.
Hopefully your headache starts to dissipate, but even though each person experiences concussions differently, what you describe is not out of the ordinary.

could've been a couple of things. I had leftover tacos from Chipotle for lunch on Monday. the guac had started to brown a little but still seemed ok and I ate very little of it. also could've been from dinner Monday night. we went for seafood and I got a platter with fried shrimp, fried oysters and fried clams. it's entirely possible it was just too much FRIED! FRIED! FRIED!Sure does. Did you pinpoint the source? I found myself not eating at Chipotle for a good 4 years after getting food poisoning from them.

This is going to be a dumb question but whatever. I've been fortunate enough to not have much in the way of medical bills so I'm not sure. Does your deductible get paid to your insurance plan or to the service provider? I got a bill for $X from the hospital for some testing I had done. And I'm curious if that amount covers my $250 deductible or if I'll get an extra bill for $250 from my insurance company as well
Blackjack's Thread of Illness and Ailments
I'm not sure, but I've had times when the provider doesn't wait until they're reimbursed by insurance, so they just bill me directly for the amount that they're supposed to get from the insurance company. It's pretty annoying. It eventually gets resolved, but there have been times when I've paid the bill out of habit and then I eventually get a refund from the provider.
My initial guess would be that insurance receives the deductible.

Is there a "best deal" for flu shots?
I heard giant iggle was giving 5 buck gift cards. Anyone beat that?

I unintentionally gave myself a sinus infection last week. Still dealing with the consequences.
