Went through the process so far and paid my $125. My telephone appointment is Monday between 12-5. We'll see how it goes from here. It's another $50 for the card itself. $175 total is a deal.Good looking out.New certification for anxiety by phone - no previous diagnosis needed. $125

@Willie Kool did you use this company? I've read some reddit threads that show it's legit but I'm always skeptical.

I did not, but I wouldn't worry. She seems totally legit.

Had my appointment today. Got my card notification in my email before the call was even done. Should have it in hand by end of the week. $225 total.

Just a friendly reminder, in case it might be applicable to anyone, that according to the BATFE, firearms ownership and medical marijuana are mutually incompatible. You must pick one or the other. According to the feds, the use of medical marijuana classes you as an “unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance,” which means you are not legally allowed to purchase, possess, or control a firearm pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(3), and 27 C.F.R. § 478.32(a)(3). The BAFTE stated in an open letter to all Firearms Licensees that “any person who uses or is addicted to marijuana, regardless of whether his or her State has passed legislation authorizing marijuana use for medicinal purposes, is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance, and is prohibited by Federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition.” Moreover, merely having a valid medical-marijuana card or other certification is enough for the disqualification because the BATFE considers the card itself to be an "inference of current use." Thus, getting a card is disqualifying even if you never actually use the card to buy any marijuana or never actually consume any marijuana. Being a prohibited person in possession of firearms or ammunition is a federal felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and a felony conviction would also lead to a lifetime ban on firearms possession (among the other consequences of being a convicted felon).

PA has no law against firearm ownership for a MMJ patient. Federal law does.
I can't buy a gun if I have a MMJ card. But I can already own one.

Respectfully, that is not correct. Under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(3), it is unlawful for any person who is an "unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance" to ship, transport, receive, or possess any firearm. The same prohibition applies to the shipment, transportation, receipt, or possession of ammunition. If one is on medical marijuana, it is a federal felony to continue to possess a firearm even if that firearm was legally purchased before getting the medical MJ card. It is further illegal to buy any ammunition for a gun one already owns. The statute refers to possession and the 2011 "open letter" (https://www.atf.gov/file/60211/download) refers to possession. The BATFE has been quite explicit that—so long as marijuana remains on the federal controlled-substance schedules—it considers gun possession and medical MJ to be mutually exclusive. Moreover, every appeals court that has addressed the issue has upheld § 922(g)(3). See, e.g.:PA has no law against firearm ownership for a MMJ patient. Federal law does.

Yes, federal law. As I said.
Am I supposed to surrender my firearm now? The cannabis registry is not visible to ATF or the federal Govt.
I assume an issue would arise if I needed to use my firearm legally and that is definitely something to consider.

Theoretically? Yes. In actuality? You need to make whatever decisions you deem best. Perhaps a boating trip is in order?
I am not aware of any active federal efforts to go after medical MJ gun owners, which by this point must be in the tens of thousands if not more. Some states have expressly passed laws to prohibit any sharing of information or cooperation with any federal enforcement. The only state that I know of that ever tried to go after medical MJ gun owners was Hawaii, and those efforts were poorly received, and I believe Hawaii basically gave up. But regardless the issue would be hanging out there as a major federal crime if the attention of the federal government were ever to be drawn your way.

I have many a coworker who would like to get a MMJ card, but have not done so for that exact reason. It's wayyyyyyy easier to buy illegal weed than it is to buy illegal guns, so they stick with drug dealers instead of the state MJ system.

Got the bill for my wife's gallbladder surgery. I'm trying to figure out how an outpatient procedure costs more than a childbirth?
$2183 for gallbladder ($750 deductible/$1433 20% coinsurance)
$891 for childbirth (all to coinsurance)
Something just doesn't seem right?

I can explain the billing it excruciating detail, but I’ll spare everyone that. Those numbers seem about right though.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do about medical bills in the US. It’s an unsolvable mystery.

That’s cheap, compared to what some hospitals charge. There was a big story on this a few years ago where they broke down costs, and showed how they varied depending on which part of the country you lived in. It’s absurd, and indefensible. It's extremely depressing.

Yep, that’s it. Also explains how Medicare patients get a common, lower rate and how it can act as a decent starting point for universal health care.

We bought a new Serta mattress from Sam's club around May of last year. It's worn out completely already. Luckily I complained and should be receiving a refund in short order.
I have my eye on the Titan Hybrid mattress from Brooklyn Bedding. Supposed to be better for bigger people. I think that's the main problem is i am not small.
