Chiropractors... scam artists or miracle workers? I'm assuming somewhere in between as with most things, but those are the only two I'm able to find in my googling.

Physical therapist >>>> chiropractor. Chiros will put you back together, but PTs will put you back together and strengthen your muscles around the area so it doesn't continue to require therapy.

Speaking of crazy hospital charges. When my mom was in the hospital from July 3rd to July 9th which included her surgery and stay the hospital billed almost 200k to her insurance. Insane.

One of the biggest challenges in healthcare is the fact that they can basically charge whatever they want, no matter how unreasonable. If there's one area that actually needs more regulation, it's that.

As long as the healthcare sector is allowed to remain corporate controlled and profit driven, that will never change. Bring on single payer Medicare for all...

While I agree with a single payer system, expecting Congress to fix the issue is laughable. If anything, they'll make it worse.

I scored a 35 on the EF test so they're sending me to get a defibrillator. :(

If you find someone who is both a chiro and a PT your skeleton thank you for the rest of your life. I went to a guy once a week for around four years; his 'office' was actually inside a fitness center.

He can treat stuff proactively, he just can't pay for any of it. You win some, you lose some.

Lower back and right lower abdomen started hurting Friday around 8pm. Got so bad, I didn't sleep at all Friday night. Pee had some blood in it around 4am, and at that point I was pretty sure it was a kidney stone. I took a couple Advil and went to the ER at 8am yesterday and spent most of the day there - CT scan, blood and urine tests, etc. They think I already passed one, and have another hanging right at the opening to the bladder. Got some Norco for the pain, and been drinking lots of water. Pain comes and goes, but between the Norco and a couple more Advil, I was at least able to get some good sleep last night. Going to try eating something now - haven't had anything but water since Friday evening.

I wouldn't wish this on anyone - it was the worst pain I can imagine.

Found out at 2am this morning that our god daughter, the five year old daughter of the best man at my wedding, has Leukemia.

****. Cancer.

Legit not sure how to even deal with it in terms of supporting the family and reconciling it with the way cancer has been a full on wrecking ball in our lives since 2013. I, just, don't know.

That’s truly awful, man. At the very least, survival rates have been going up over the years with earlier diagnosis and new treatment options, so hopefully everything will work out for the best.

Really sorry to hear that! Do they know what kind it is yet? My neighbor's son was just diagnosed and Children's told them that there's a 100% success rate, but it will take three years of treatment. Hopefully hers is something as treatable.

Yes, she was 'lucky' to have the most treatable form, B Cell ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). Same course of treatment. Intense chemo for about two weeks, regular chemo for a few months, and recurring low dose for a few years.

My friend from high school was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of Stage 4 breast cancer last year. She has two children. Her attitude throughout this fight has been contagious, thought I'd share this.
This is it! We’re making history right now. I am the first ever breast cancer patient to receive Keytruda(immunotherapy) that is not in a trial. What a crazy ride I’m on. They are calling it the miracle drug and my lord do I need one. All my drs are just so excited and praying this works. This will actually train my cells to recognize cancer as bad so my body attacks it all without hurting the good cells. Keytruda has worked wonders on cancer cells with the PD-L1 mutation and my cells have this. During the Jameson tour in Ireland we learned that there’s a saying on every bottle and it’s Sine Metu meaning “without fear”. That really resonated with me so I am tackling this with that saying in my head. Bring it on Cancer!! Your days are numbered... Slayin on!
