Blackjack's Thread of Illness and Ailments

This is my specific heart condition for anyone interested:
Supraventricular tachycardia is a broad term that includes arrhythmias that start above the ventricles and causes episodes of a pounding heartbeat (palpitations) that begin and end abruptly.
When I was in the presurgery room hooked up to the monitors (and off the meds) my heart from slight moves of my arms was beating from 70, 90, 100, 120, and up to 140 bpm.

I can post about real vs TV OR moments if anyone is interested.

Many of you will be there for various ailments in 20, 30, or 40 years.

'World's Smallest Pacemaker' offered by doctor in Johnstown
The roughly two centimeter long pacemaker is around the size of a medicine pill. The man offering this new device, Dr. Lou Mastrine, says symptoms of a “significantly low heart rate include shortness of breath, dizziness, and fatigue."

The pacemaker is implanted using a catheter system, through veins in the leg. A traditional system would have wires enter through a hole, near your collarbone, he says. Dr. Mastrine says this wouldn’t be possible without close attention from the people who are constructing these pacemakers.

The two year complication rate is less than a traditional pacemaker, says Dr. Mastrine.

Oh no... Sorry to hear that. That is always an awful time, and having it simultaneously with small kiddos suuuucks.

Good luck, do all the remedies. The salt water gargle thing is annoying but legit helps...and get all the honey stuff for the kiddos.

Godspeed soldier

My 5 yr old started it like 10 days ago, gave it to the nanny, who gave it to the two younger who gave it to me. Didn't even know the Littles had it until I got it then decided to get them checked. 2 yr old had a red throat, baby had nothing just tested positive so everyone got amoxicillin. My throat is like my 3rd worst symptom behind headache and body aches

Lil mac woke up today and said it hurt to swallow too. Ugh. We have an appointment this afternoon. Baby mac is already on Bactrim for an ear infection so I'm assuming it'll handle that as well if need ben

My last one came with fever and chills. I still can't pinpoint a cause of it. Because I can eat and drink freely then one day out of the blue it happens.

I made it through Beerfest and steak tacos that night with 0 issues. No idea what caused it this time, and doc can't see me til tomorrow afternoon. I've only had one other one 2 years ago, so it's not like they're frequent.

Indomethacin coming your way likely. It tears up my stomach. Your foot won't hurt cause it's numb from the hours sitting glued to a toilet seat.

I know a bunch of people that have gout, usually due to poor diet. They are/were around my age, so middle aged-ish.

Pretty miserable tbh.

It started for me when I was about late 20s. Bad diet is definitely the cause. Beer, pork, red meat, all the good stuff...

Pretty sure that's the major culprit with gout. My grandfather got it all the time, but not until he got older. My brother just got it a month or so ago. 43 years old.

I eat read meat probably 3x a week on average I'd say. I'll go weeks without gout. Then it'll creep up out of the blue.

Gout for some reason always feels to me like a Ye Olde Tyme disease that people shouldn't get any more, like rickets or scurvy.

We used to joke that my manager at my first contract admin job had rickets or consumption. She was so senior at the company and accrued PTO so fast that she only worked 4-day weeks.

When I was in the Navy we had a dude get scurvy. He had never been out to sea and at that point in his post-RTC enlistment he had been stationed in Charleston and Saratoga Springs, two places with multiple grocery stores that sell a variety of items containing vitamin C. His diet for the better part of a year apparently consisted of Beanee Weenees and Cup Noodles.

That's about what my balance was when I left Konami. I had cashed in 80 hours for a vacation to Europe, but I earned it all back within like two months.

For as assy as the company could be at times, they were super generous with benefits.

I would greatly appreciate an eradication because it's absolutely miserable.
