Just finished getting the first round of leaves and chestnut shells to the curb for Wednesday’s pickup. I hate fall.

This is going to be me on Monday or Tuesday. Then again the next week...then again the next week probably.

Our next round is mid-November, so I’ll just use the leaf blower once every few eels to push them all against the fence. The week of, we’ll rake them into a tarp and drag them to the curb.

We have to bag ours and put them out can't just blow them to the curb.

I bought a leaf mulcher/blower backpack thing that makes my life much easier.

I just hate doing a round and then 30 minutes later it's like I did nothing.

Which one did you buy? I'm in the market. I have a backpack blower but could really use a vacuum/mulcher for the piles I blow

It's similar to the link below. I don't have a huge yard but big enough.

I use that and I have a separate battery powered leaf blower my wife will use to get stuff in a smaller area that I then suck up with the mulcher and bag it.

We usually end up with at least a dozen bags or more by the end of fall.

I finally said f it and decided to hire somebody to do my leaves this year. They have yet to come out and my yard is covered in leaves. I just can’t win

The USDA released new plant hardiness zone maps and about half of the country has shifted due to warmer temps. My area moved from 5b to 6a.

My wife is huge on flowers in the summer time. Since we've moved into our place in 2020, I've dug 6 new flower beds to go along with the big ones that were already there around the front porch and back deck.

For her mother's day gift, I decided to splurge a bit on some plants:



It's $100 for 2 plants plus shipping ($50 for the plants, $50 for the shipping). Luckily, petunias grow really well for us, plus just collecting the seeds at the end of the year and replanting should be pretty easy. I also learned today that you can propagate petunias from cuttings.

I'm excited to see how these turn out. Hopefully I didn't just flush a Benjamin down the toilet.

My Mom went crazy with the flower beds when she was younger and now that she is over 70 she completely regrets it because of the upkeep involved. I told her at the time that she was making a lot of work for herself and she says now that she wished she had listened to me.

Yeah, my dad (and his father) had very elaborate gardens. It was very sad to go over to visit and see them barren and just mulched in. I know it bothered my father that he couldn't garden any longer.

Yep as are the daylillies. It's almost time to get fertilizer going and all that fun stuff. Bring it!

Just took Friday off to do some lawn care. Aerated last Sunday and it was perfect. Damp but not swampy. Nice plugs pulled out.

Most of our daffodils bloomed already.

I haven’t gone back to the garden yet, but assume asparagus is sprouting just based on the lunch menu at work

Planning on changing all the filters in my lawnmower this weekend, and then I think I'm gonna get rolling on mowing the grass. Lots of areas where it's already getting pretty darn long. I don't think I usually do this for a few more weeks, but it's time.

I did a quick trim of our backyard a few days ago, front yard is going to get done in the next few days and fertilizer/pre-emergent laid down. Already laid milogranite in the backyard since that is where the dog is mostly and its pet friendly.

I'm still probably a week or two away. It has been really cold here lately.

I have a big hill of a front yard. How silly would it be just to plant a crapload of crocuses and snow drops in the fall? The ones we have in the flower beds are pretty much done now and I haven’t mowed yet, could just mow em all down on the first run and then it’s just a yard again…

Be aware that snowdrops will multiply and become borderline invasive.

The peaches are blooming. I pruned last weekend, soon it will be the time I hate where I have to go thin out the branches and I get "I know why you have to do that but it just seems like a shame to lose all those peaches" like I'm a peach abortion doctor or something.

You get a bunch of shitty peaches with scab on them, or fewer nicer ones lady. Circle of life n'at. Christ there are still probably 5 ziploc bags of peaches from last year in the freezer.
