Went to start my Ego lawn mower today and it wouldn’t go. The self propel worked, so I knew the battery wasn’t dead. Had also mowed once already this season so something must have happened since then

Took about an hour and 4 YouTube searches but eventually found that a wire must have been pinched and one of the safety circuits wasn’t operable. Couldn’t find the wire but was able to jumper it out.

The wiring of the mower left a lot to be desired. Not the most neat routing and way too many pinch points. Hope this is the only time this happens, as I really love the mower.

How do you like that Ego mower? I love my Ego trimmer - the thing has crazy power for a 56v battery. My neighbor was surprised when I told him that I do my edging with it, as he assumed it was an actual gas edger with a steel blade.

I wish I could justify one of the riding Ego mowers. Yard's simply not big enough, though.

On the subject of mowers, how much is too much to spend on replacement parts if I can buy the same mower brand new for $600

How do you like that Ego mower? I love my Ego trimmer - the thing has crazy power for a 56v battery. My neighbor was surprised when I told him that I do my edging with it, as he assumed it was an actual gas edger with a steel blade.

It’s great. Never have to maintain it other than the blade. I take about an hour to do the lawn and only when the grass is super tall so I have issues with the battery running low. Still have never had it run out on me though.

It’s also super light so very easy to maneuver. Folds up easily to store. Which is probably what caused the wire short as the wires route closely to the pivot point for the handle.

Nice. Can it accept the bigger Ego batteries? That’d be a big plus for those longer grass days, though those batteries are expensive.

Not sure what you mean by bigger. The batteries are quite big as it stands, can’t imagine a much bigger one for a lawn mower.

Either way, the bay they sit in is sized perfectly for the battery, so I don’t imagine anything larger fitting in there

Sorry, I was referring to the amperage. Like on my string trimmer, I believe it comes with a 6 amp, 56v battery, but Ego sells 12 amp, 56v batteries now, too.

I want to get an inexpensive battery operated blower to take camping with me. Is it worth it just to get one which I already am invested in the battery line (milwaukee) or are there others that'd be better?

Last year I bought one of those lightweight, fabric, expandable garden hoses from Amazon. 75 feet, I think. It seemed to work well, doesn't require a reel, light weight, etc. Problem was it's too short. So I buy a similar one, this time 100 footer. This should get to all corners of my yard (again, HOA requires a healthy lawn). I watered one side of my yard last night with an old, standard hose. Plenty of water pressure.

This morning I got out, crank it up, and it's barely doing anything. My wife had been in the shower, and I had washed dishes, so I knew the water pressure was fine.

I'm assuming it's the expandable hose is reducing the water pressure? The hose is sort of ribbed and the water would slow down as it passes over the ribs. There are also two ball valves (one on each hose) where you can turn it off at the end of the hose, which is a nice feature, but to get it to work well the nozzle hole has to be smaller than a normal hose. That would impede the water as well.

Anyway, I didn't think this through when I bought these hoses. So I have $120 worth of useless hoses I get to replace at some point. Good times.

I have Flexzilla hoses, which I really like. For the length, they're lightweight and easily unravel. They kink up from time to time (every hose does, period). I'd recommend them:

We have the similar style of hose from Amazon. The hose itself is fine, but it came with POS nozzle that broke after a winter of sitting in the detached garage.

I like the expandable hoses but if this one craps out I'll just spend an extra $25 bucks and get a named brand one instead of rando generic brand from Amazon. I get that all of these consumer goods are made in China, but it seems like the fly by night stuff on Amazon is just one notch below name brand stuff.

Bold spiders are so cool. This one has jumped from my leg to my shirt four times in last ten minutes. He keeps coming up wanting to chill on my neck/shoulder.

Anything over 50%? You're probably talking the transmission there, and that's only if you actually need the self-propelled feature; could easily just leave it disconnected. Next big ticket item is probably the deck, but the time required to replace the parts would be a factor for me. No chance I'm spending 50% of the cost on a deck and then spending half a day swapping them.

Bunch of dumb little things that add up to like $150. Need new wheels/assemblies, a couple other dumb things. At like 25% of the value of a new one for not even a major part, i started to question my sanity.

I’m curious, how much do y’all care about having weeds in your grass yards?

my brothers criticize me because I don’t really care that my lawn has dandelions and clovers in it. They see it as laziness (which isn’t entirely untrue) but I enjoy the look of the flowers, even if they are technically weeds. Pristine grass lawns aren’t as aesthetic to me
