My "lawn" is probably only 50% actual grass. So long as it's green and mowable, I don't care.

I really want to grow jalapeños in my Aerogarden, but the risk of one of the cats getting sick from it has discouraged me from doing so. Just wiped out my old Thai basil, cleaned the unit, and will be growing Genovese basil and rosemary this go around.

You know, I used the aero garden one single time and somehow ended up with a crazy aphid infestation. I don't get how.

My wife didn't know the lights could move up and down and she roasted the first crop of stuff she grew in hers.

I need to do a better job at keeping the basil in check this time around. That stuff grows like a weed, and can overtake the entire unit quickly. My Harvest model has 9 pods, and there's zero chance you can actually use them all at once unless you're growing something that maxes out at 6". I'm going to be running 2 pods this time around, and I bet it all covers 100% of the area when mature.

Not sure that's even possible, given how the roots tangle within the box. You'd have to resort to brute force to pull a mature plant free.i would like a better way to start things in the aerogarden and transplant to garden

Tell that to my Thai basil. Its roots were wrapped around everything. I only had two pods the last time (other was some kind of lettuce), planted at opposite ends.if you do two plants max one on each end you could get them out before things get hairyNot sure that's even possible, given how the roots tangle within the box. Gonna do a better job of not allowing light into the basin this time around.

Sorry. 2, 4 d is a selective herbicide that targets broadleaf (read weeds) plants.Seconded.This seems like a very useful post but i have no idea what it means. You need Triclopyr or 2,4-d for creeping Charlie. Triclopyr is also a selective herbicide that targets the same things, but is more often used in brush areas.
Clover is well clover. Creeping charlie comes from a lack of nitrogen in the soil. Clover puts nitrogen back into the soil.
Adding nitrogen fertilizer has the same effect without seeing clover.

How is the genovese basil compared to the Thai basil in terms of height and spread?

A fertilizer with a high(ish) first number. Like 26-0-3. Make sure you apply when it's likely to rain within a few hours. What is your go to for nitrogenationSorry. 2, 4 d is a selective herbicide that targets broadleaf (read weeds) plants.Seconded.This seems like a very useful post but i have no idea what it means. You need Triclopyr or 2,4-d for creeping Charlie. I would certainly try some 2,4 d if it was me though, in addition to nitrogen in about 3 weeks.

Update:
I purchased the Scott's Fall Weed & Feed (28-0-6 with 2,4-d in it). Applied on Tuesday, the creeping Charlie is wilting as of this morning.
Also purchased concentrated 2,4-d for localized attack on anything I missed.

How does the fall weed and feed work? You just sprinkle it in your yard and let it do its thing?

Yep, all those pelletized grass treatments have instructions about weather conditions that you have to read. How does the fall weed and feed work? You just sprinkle it in your yard and let it do its thing?
This one was temp <90, apply to a damp lawn (morning dew), and make sure it's not going to rain for 24 hours.
I just threw it in the spreader, set it to what they told me, and went to tahn.
