Some new arrivals to my flock finally arrived today.
Nice
Lost an Asian black today, but this morning I added 3 Amerucauna, 2 blue laced Wyandotte, and 1 Columbian Wyandotte.

I got an email that my lawn care guys are treating my lawn tomorrow. I really didn't expect this to happen. Guess they somehow are considered an essential business. Anyone else get lawn treatments done recently?

It’s probably a single person doing the treatment, so that doesn’t sound like much of an issue to me.

Last year after Hurricane Dorian a tree in my newly purchased home’s yard fell. I cut it up with a chainsaw but left the stump in the ground until this week

I removed the stump and planted a tree in its place but now I’m unsure what to do with the stump. How much would it cost just to have someone haul it?

Yes, on Thursday. Not sure how they’d be considered “essential,” but in the realm of common sense, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be active.

In New Jersey, nursery, garden centers and landscapers have all been determined to be essential...as long as they social distance. That means a landscaper crew can't roll up with 4-5 guys in the truck.

Someone desperate would probably haul it for like 50 bucks.

I cleared even more brush today on my property. Im slowly trying to reclaim woods that have been long overgrown with thorny vines and just garbage vegetation. Cleared about a 50x100 foot section with a brush cutter blade and the rake on my tractor. I can't wait until it's done but it is tough freaking work.

Anyone recommend a mail order plant/bush company? Is there such a thing? We don’t have many options where I am, and I want to steer clear of the crowded Lowe’s and Home Despot.

Are your local garden centers not open?

We have several here that are delivering.

I've bought trees from Nature Hills Nursery and was always pleased.

Our feed stores are still open, actually hadn't thought about that. We don't have a plant nursery in the area.

Nice. Shipping isn’t too bad either.

Our Governor just issued a stay at home order with a limit on customers per square foot in retail stores, so I might be able to brave Lowe’s later this week, as it won’t be as crowded.

we have a rose bush that has gone completely ham and is now humongous. curious if anyone has a best practice to support? i am nervous about staking it, do not want to cause a stricture. have been considering using a cage similar to tomato plant

Riding mower... I don't want to buy anything more than 2K. What's the best bang for my buck? I'm between buying something like these:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Troy-Bilt-B ... /307458207
https://www.homedepot.com/p/John-Deere- ... /302923653
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Cub-Cadet-X ... /311264843

Or buy used. There are plenty of small engine shops around here that sell used riding mowers. The only worry for me would be if something goes wrong with them. Buying new, I can just return. Buying used I'd have less safety in buying.

I can't answer the riding mower question, but I would definitely look into the mower repair shops in your area should you ever need to have one serviced. If nobody services one of those brands, I'd probably avoid it, personally. Might be worth calling one of them up and asking for general brand advice anyway.

Yes. I believe both Troy-Bilt and Cub Cadet are brands owned by MTD, so they're coming from the same company.

I'd guess even the John deere L series are the same as cub cadet.
