Excellent. Thanks. We didn’t get a chance to plant the roots this fall unfortunately so this will be a lost-ish year

There seems to be a lot of potential money in owning a medium to large scale hops farm.I've already done that, buying ingredients in a kit. I doubt I'll ever purchase/grow all the raw ingredients myself, but by growing my own hops I can play around with different flavors.Gonna make your own brew?I'm going to take a shot at growing my own hops this year. Not the same, but we'll see how it goes.Anyone grow their own tea? Thinking about trying that out this year.

You lost me at farm. I have around 1/3 acre total land. Putting hops under your pillow is supposed to help you sleep, too.

There is a tremendous demand for hops from micro-brews and DIY brewers that is not being met by local growers.
Most brewers are looking for pelletized hops vs. wet hops, so anyone looking to get into the hops game would need to to source pelletizing.

This weather has been so whacky lately that I've already got flowers starting to sprout from the ground (tulips and some other flower I don't remember the name of).

Definitely not these. We have a group of them in a random spot by our neighbor's fence (squirrel probably buried them there initially), and they haven't popped yet. The ones in our garden are definitely flowers that we planted, given that they're all in a straight line. I wish I wrote down everything that we planted so that we could keep track of things. There's one flower that is beautiful when it blooms, but lays down these crazy spiked pods, and grows like a week, taking over everything nearby. I think I got it all last year.Probable daffodils.

this happened last year about this exact time.. my hostas started to bloom, froze in March and never really made it back. Hoping that doesn't happen again, as much as I enjoy the warm weather right now

But seriously, those things are usually unkillable. Nice work.
They are edible and a member of the asparagus family. So, if you get hungry, there ya go.

Does anyone use the Scott’s 4 step for lawn care
Gardening/Maintenance Thread
We moved last summer from a row home with basically no yard to a single family with about 1/3 Acre mostly all grass.
I know basically nothing about maintaining a nice lawn. Anyone have any good resources to read? In our neighborhood some people have lawns where all the grass is the same shade of green and looks beautiful. Ours does not look like that. I don't know what is involved in getting a lawn to that point or if it's even worth it.

Pennington's guide is worth a read. I'm not sure why, but they left out the whole topic of lime and put it in a separate article.
I don't know where you are, but in the NE, I've had much better success with Pennington grass seed [Pennsylvania Mix] as opposed to Scott's, and would recommend it in a heartbeat. And, IMO, it's always worth getting involved with your lawn. It doesn't take a lot of effort to revive most lawns, unless yours is in seriously poor shape.

Perhaps off tangent, perhaps not - but how does one deal with roots that are coming up from trees? It seems my grass is really thinning out, and every year my lawn mower takes a beating because I keep riding over more and more roots. I do live on a slope, so is water runoff part of the culprit?
My mom has the same issue at her house, and we never were able to figure it out. Is it too much shade?
