The media is sure loving pushing this "Cam can't handle losing" narrative. Have even seen a few people saying that's the difference between him and Manning. It's really interesting how different the media's perspective is compared to 2010 when Peyton refused to shake any of the Saints hands after losing.

Luckily Cam had more class than that:

I think more people are complaining about people complaining about cam than there are people complaining about cam. If that makes any sense

Remember that time when Peyton lost to the Steelers in the playoffs and in his post-game press conference, he "lost with class" by throwing his offensive line under the bus?

Losing and pouting is infinitely better than winning and doing Budweiser commercials and acting like you don't care whatsoever about what happened.

Manning not shaking hands was the lead story for the week after that Super Bowl. It's not like everyone just ignored what happened or made excuses for it.

There are certainly some feel-good stories coming out of this. Extremely happy for DeMarcus Ware. Future Hall of Famer that was mired on a going-nowhere Dallas squad his entire career, then comes to Denver and is an integral part in winning his first ring. Great guy on and off the field.

Also happy for Wade Phillips. Has been in the NFL for decades, another seemingly great guy, and finally finds his niche as a defensive wizard for a talented Broncos team. Seems to be adored by his players too, a lot like Lebeau. His Twitter feed is quality stuff too.

I said wide left, which is technically correct
I don't think you know what "technically" means...
... if you're looking at it from the point of view of the refs standing behind the uprights

Don't they actually stand under the uprights, not behind them?

Does that fundamentally change what I was going for?

Also didn't realize an off-hand joke was going to get so much scrutiny...

Technically right handed pitchers are left handed because when the ump is looking at them the throwing hand is to their left.

Cam Newton got what he deserved. dude has been an arrogant ass all year and last night was a major choke job. hopefully he learned that football is a team sport.
Didn't play well, but had no help. And arrogant ass isn't really accurate, unless that's just because of celebrations.
actually yes, it is just the celebrations. I love a good TD celebration but the guy runs the ball in from the 2 yard line by sticking it over the goal line and then spends 2 minutes celebrating on his own (yes, I know group celebration get a flag) and it seems like he forgot that 10 other guys helped get him that far down the field.
I'm a big believer in acting like you've been there before.

Cam forgetting his teammates just seems silly to me. The guy always celebrates with them once he gets to the sidelines. From everything I've seen of the guy he seems like the farthest from a "all about me" guy as you can get. It's a game, it's supposed to be fun. Guy seems like he wears his heart on his sleeve in regards to the game.

How often do QBs get into fights with teammates during training camp? (Honest question)

It goes back to the level of expectation you have of a quarterback vs a receiver or running back. The team is investing huge sums of money, not just in the QB, but in rest of the the roster; they will draft and sign free agents in large part around the skills of that QB. He's the face of the organization, and now he's the League MVP. You're gonna get all 'look at me' when you score, but bug out of press obligations when you lose? Eff that, prima donna.

personally, i would hope that my franchise quarterback would be so dejected after losing the superbowl that he was unable to give a good interview afterwards. it's sort of the opposite of prima donna.

Yeah. I much prefer Newton's sourness to Peyton's advertisements.

He was also doing his interview at the same time as a Denver player and could overhear his interview.. That part seems to be left out of all of this. I'd be po'd too

I saw the video where you could hear Harris Jr. in the background. He wasn't really talking trash or gloating, IMO. Newton just needs to man up a little.

You genuinely see that kind of emotional frailty as a virtue? I see it as a disqualification. There's no way I could take the guy seriously in the locker room. If the guy can't even bring himself to represent my team in front of a gaggle of reporters after a tough loss, how can I put my faith in him when the going gets tough on the field? (Insert gif of Cam resoundingly not giving 100% to recover his fumble)

Sure, get all Kylo Ren in the immediate aftermath. Break lockers. Throw equipment managers. Whatever. Then put your big boy pants on and do your ****ing job.

it's a net neutral. i don't think it means anything on the field either way, but i prefer seeing dejection over sterility. i want the players to act like the game matters. again - just a preference.
