I tried to push back on it but I got that "that's just what I believe. That's what I think is going on." So I figured out pretty quickly that facts and sources aren't important with him.

Oh and I heard from a different family member on a different day that they won't be getting the vaccine since it'll have a microchip in it to track their movements. I tried to let her know that a microchip isn't necessary when we carry around smartphones with us at all times but again, there's no talking to people who think this way.

Everyone wants to be the "exception" it seems. I would love to visit by grandma in her nursing home. She most likely doesn't have much time left. But I understand the restrictions, especially there.

These governors have a tough job. Some may have too many restrictions, some not enough, but when dealing with an unknown, its difficult.

Do you think an MPH automatically makes someone an authority on, well, everything in healthcare? There are plenty of people with Master's Degrees that hold pretty baseless and dumb views in their field of study. Rand Paul is a physician, but that doesn't necessarily make him an expert on the epidemiology of COVID. Which I'm sure you've pointed out at some point in this thread.

Her thread was fine. It wasn't any new information at all, and it's basically what the CDC has been saying all along.

we took a nice afternoon walk on a nearby path this past Saturday. the path is about 6 feet wide so most people walk in a column when others approach. we were about 3/4 done when a young couple with their dog approached from the opposite direction. I moved to a column but they (no masks, though we don't wear ours out walking either) didn't, putting them probably 3-4 feet from us. the woman was wearing a Emory University School of Public Health t shirt. seriously???

I'm not referring to the woman that posted that Twitter thread, but let's not pretend that having an advanced degree automatically makes you smart, trustworthy, or someone that we should listen to without question.

I certainly am inclined to hold them in higher esteem, and I've been pretty "pro-science" throughout this thread and elsewhere.
