Did you get a loaner from the dealer? My guess is no in this day and age of car shortages.

It's at a local transmission shop. No rental. I should have bought an Acura.

Got a lukewarm deal on a used 2018 expedition max limited. Still can't believe I'm contemplating dropping $40k on a vehicle even after having a trade in, but it'll make our lives, and upcoming travel plans in the next year or two, a lot more simple. It's a lot more than we need, but it'll be very nice to have.

Can always sell the house and live in the camper full time i guess.

Why didn't you trade it in? Low balling you?

Is it a manual?

Who’s ordering one?

Flying car could be weeks away from takeoff

The Switchblade, an aircraft that doubles as a car, could be just weeks away from getting its wheels off the ground after a Federal Aviation Administration inspection on July 15 determined it’s safe to fly.

The project has been 14 years in the making, and Sam Bousfield, CEO of Samson Sky and inventor of the Switchblade, said he’s “stoked” to reach this milestone. After passing the FAA inspection, his team wasted no time in beginning the high-speed taxi test. They were out on the taxiway the next day.

Just like a pocket knife, the Switchblade’s wings slip smoothly into the body of the vehicle with the touch of a button, allowing it to seamlessly transition from sky to air. Its tail also unfurls or retracts, depending on if it’s being used to fly or drive.

The idea is that the vehicle could be parked in a garage, driven to an airport, flown to a new destination, and then driven anywhere on the ground after it lands. When a trip is over, the user can fly it home or fly it elsewhere.

Samson Sky is trying to make the Switchblade a world-class vehicle, giving it all the amenities of a car, including a hybrid electric drive system.

When they hit the market, Bousfield expects they’ll cost about $170,000.

Can't trust idiots on the road, so let's also trust those idiots to not be idiots above the road.

What could go wrong.

$170k would be impressive given a base model GA aircraft is about $400k new.

$170,000 as an experimental-aircraft kit, which means probably two thousand hours or more of assembling it yourself. Says it's using a three-cylinder engine with "a six-year history of recreational vehicle use in mostly wide-open throttle applications." Maybe a snowmobile or watercraft engine? I would want to know exactly what that engine is before I would bet my life on it.

Hit a deer June 12th. Finally got the car back yesterday

Anyway. This is weird - I get a headache when driving. Anyone ever had a bad/warped windshield? Is this is a thing or am I just adjusting from the rental I had? Seems odd. There's nothing visibly off but this is the third time I've driven it now with this happening

Tesla looking to get the tax credits again:
The deal extends a popular consumer tax credit of up to $7,500 for the purchase of new electric vehicles, and offers for the first time a credit of $4,000 for used electric vehicles.

Only people who make $150,000 a year or less (or $300,000 for joint filers) are eligible for the new car credit and those who earn a maximum of $75,000 (or $150,000 for joint filers) for used cars. The program would run until the end of 2032. The credits would be available for new cars priced up to $55,000 and new pickup trucks, SUVs, and vans priced up to $80,000. Another $1 billion in the bill would provide funding for zero-emissions school buses, heavy duty trucks, public transit buses and other commercial vehicles.

They mention low income people can buy used electric cars and get a $4,000 credit but low income people, by and large, don't pay any federal income taxes to be able to use the credit.

Does refundable mean they would get a payment from the Feds if they didn't owe any taxes?
