Not forcing nursing homes to take positive testing patients would have been a good start.
It won't happen, but Wolf, Cuomo, Levine, and any other public official that required nursing homes to accept positive patients should be held to the fire. Disastrous.

Lots of good questions. Its not easy but certainly money helps. Traveling nurses I was thinking... they're used to turning their lives on a dime. National guard. Shifts for the others... 2 months seems like a lot but even if its 2 weeks on 2 weeks off... heavy testing when you come back. Maybe first couple days in an on-site modified quarantine doing admin work.

I personally know about 6 or 8 nurses that made their way to NYC/NJ to work in the ICUs. Certainly you can find some willing to work with the elderly.

Also flexibility to get even more extreme if a case is identified on site.

There are answers. It requires drastic measures and a lot of money, but they exist.

Just treat Florida as America’s nursing home. Once you hit, let’s say, 70, you are forced to move there.

To travel in, you have to show your aarp card.

None of the other 49 states are allowed to have early bird specials and matching couples track suits are outlawed. Old folks have no reason to leave then.

Boom. Problem solved.

LTCF and Nursing Homes need live in staff. If the government has to pay double or more their current salaries for those people, so be it. People above 65 and older and those with the top preexisting conditions should be strongly recommended to curtail as much unneeded travel and social interaction as much as possible. Anyone that doesn't fit those categories should be recommended to wear face masks and start resuming economic activity. If the goal is to reduce as much death as possible and to not sustain economic destruction, then these are the steps we are going to have to do. Waiting for a vaccine to resume mostly normal economic conditions will destroy the world economy and cause more death than this virus will. The goal at the beginning was flattening the curve so our hospitals didn't get overwhelmed. Now that we are getting the picture of who is not majorly affected, we need to start figuring out how to get these people the confidence to start resuming their lives while still taking some protections. The faster we are able to do this, the less death will happen.
a nursing senior home near me did this back in March. the administrator asked for volunteers to live on-site. before she even discussed extra pay she had 60 volunteers. they've only had 1 case since they locked down.

Found out today one of my friends/co-workers got a positive on a covid antibody test. She thinks that she had it when we were in Australia for Presidents Cup. If so, I’m amazed that no one in our traveling party got any effects from it because 6 of us were around her in a LAX lounge for 7 hours on a layover and we were in close proximity throughout the week in the compound trailers. She thinks she got it from her husband, who is a schoolteacher, and had been sick the week before. I had gotten a case of the flu that laid me up for 3 days but that was 7-8 weeks and 4 plane rides after Australia so it wasn’t from her. She has MS too and luckily, it didn’t lay her up like it has so many others.

Sweden had most deaths per capita in the world at least one day last week. Hurray, we are the champions of the world...

In all honesty I would rather call it quits then live in a nursing home.

Quick edit: This is nothing against nursing homes or their employees. I just don;t care to live like that.

I was talking to a friend recently about cruise ships and I've decided that my fortune needs to be made by opening senior living homes that mirror cruise ships. bars, casinos, shows. I think Carnival Senior Living would be very popular. :pop:

I hired a couple movers today and we all started off by wearing masks. By the time we did about 3 trips up and down the stairs, that was done. Is there really a point at that moment? They’re in there, they’re touching everything, we’re going to be in close proximity all day.

If that’s how I get the virus, so be it.

Just open a ship that has a Denny’s or an eat N’ park type restaurant and slot machines. Then you’ll print money.

I was at work Thursday and Friday. The shop was starting to get pretty hot by Friday afternoon. If people are going to be mandated to wear masks throughout the summer, they are going to have a lawsuit on their hands. Somebody is going to pass out working on a machine and hurt themselves.

it was high 80's here today. I realized that once we get into the 90's most people will dump their masks. I guess we'd better hope that heat does kill it....

Preprint study about how 40-60% of the population might have some type of immunity to COVID because of other coronavirus types already circulating.

Basically saying it could account for the high amount of asymptomatic cases.
