Since the draft began in 1965, the Pirates have had the No. 4 selection three times. Those picks produced right-hander Brad Lincoln in 2006, lefty Daniel Moskos in 2007 and catcher Tony Sanchez in 2009.

I'm holding out hope they can find the next Cole Tucker or Will Craig or heck maybe even Reese McGuire

I forgot Will Craig even existed. McGuire has zero bat but he's at least a rosterable MLB player.

We should probably all ignore that Trout was in that 2009 tony Sanchez draft. But there were dudes drafted immediately after Sanchez that could have helped the pirates when they were actually good.

The Pirates could have saved Mike Trout. He'd have been a dodger for three years already by now and never had to experience the Angels

Trout would probably still be in the minors.

Quintana should return something decent.

I think without a clear first tier of players, the worry was that the Bucs would take a lower ranked guy to save some slot money to spread around last year. Which isn't a bad idea per se, and I liked how last year went. But when Termarr made it and seemed like the consensus best player available, it was nice to see them go for it.

I don't follow the draft so who is he referring to?
