I agree, it comes off as stupid if you have no prayer of backing it up.

Hmm... Not showing the proper amount of respect for a cultural expression that honors the heritage of those performing it. Sorry, but...you're gonna have to turn in your woke cards at the desk. Shad, you're excused as we know you've never been issued a woke card.

May you all feel shame...except you, shad...you can just, you know, continue being, you know, you.

Was just watching the opening ceremony and thought I heard music from Chrono Trigger. Apparently I did. Awesome.

I wish MLB games went as fast as Olympic softball.

note: I hate the extra innings start with a base runner at 2nd base in both.

Bryson DeChambeau out of the Olympics after testing positive for Covid. Patrick Reed replaces him.

Rahm out of Olympics with a positive Covid test. That one will be interesting to see what’s up with that considering he already had it and he’s fully vaccinated. Either residual positive cells from the first one or a second strain that popped a positive.

I’ve been enjoying the early events but I really miss fans, especially in soccer and gymnastics. I know Tokyo is at a different phase of Covid recovery and their vaccination rate is low but why not require vaccination proof for fans? Hell make em wear a mask still. I’m so **** done with sports without fans.

I'm a little surprised by that too. The summer sumo tournament in Nagoya was held a couple weeks early this year in order to not overlap with the Olympics. They permitted 50% capacity (I think somewhere around 4,000 people), and that tournament was held in an indoor arena. If that was acceptable, then I don't see why the outdoor Olympic venues, at least, couldn't have some spectators present.

Not sure how well "only vaccinated people" would work. I believe Japan is still in the phase were primarily people 65+ are the ones being vaccinated, and many of those folks likely don't want to be sitting out in the heat at sporting events. (Japan can be extremely hot and humid in the summer; there's a reason why their traditional clothes were robes with plenty of ventilation.)

Yeah I hear you. It’s just so disappointing watching Japan beat Mexico in soccer and knowing the fans would be going **** ape ****. After this Olympics I hope I never have to watch another sport without fans. It sucks.

How long would it take Giannis to be the best handball and volleyball player in the world? I saw about 3 months for handball and a 2 years of hard work at volleyball

Handball is the sport for people that are really good at the part of basketball that doesn't involve scoring. Parts like dribbling, quickness, jumping, defense, etc. They give you a much bigger "basket" in handball to make up for your atrocious shooting abilities.

Handball was one of the electives I took in gym class in high school. All the non-basketball players got romped.

Entertaining Brazil/Argentina volleyball match going on right now. Argentina was up 2 games to 0 and then up 5 in the 4th but Brazil keeps coming back.

Brazil pulls off the comeback.
