Silk Sonic's album is great. Shame it's only 31 minutes.

SiriusXM just launch a new extra channel called "Surf Instrumentals," which plays exactly what the name says. I didn't realize that surf instrumentals had been such a big genre. I'm enjoying this more than I ever thought I would.

So I had an idea for decorating my office. I bought the full conductor's score of concert arrangements of Star Wars and Jaws film scores, and I'm gonna copy a few pages and frame them and put them up in photo collages on my office wall.

These are two of my favorite pieces of music ever, and seeing them in the full spiral-bound score book got me somewhat emotional.

That looks like a Harmon Kardon system. I had a receiver of theirs from that era.

Fun story: I was part of the licensing team that got Hip To Be Square in that movie. Lewis did not want to the license the song, especially in the context of that scene. But the music supervisor was persistent, so as a goof Hooeylewis quoted an absurd fee, like 8x what he'd normally go for. Well, the filmmakers accepted. When a recoding is licensed, we as the label don't necessarily know (or get paid) until the movie is actually released and the song in included in the final cut. So when the movie came out and, well.... you know...... that scene plays out, Hooeylewis was as angry as a Hooeylewis can get.

I mean, Hooeylewis cashed the checks and all, but he sort of lost his mind over this. He couldn't do anything about the movie, but he huffed and puffed enough that the soundtrack album was pulled from distribution and something like 100,000 physical copies were destroyed. The public story is that they failed to secure publishing rights to include the song on the soundtrack, but I know that our quote for the in-context use for the master recording in the film also included a quote for inclusion on the soundtrack album. So I find the claims that publishing wasn't secured to be vague and unconvincing.

For 20+ years Lewis has denied that he threw such a fit, but I was on the other end of the emails and phone calls. He absolutely threw his s**t out of his cage.

Brass Against are dealing with the fallout from an onstage incident in which singer Sophia Urista urinated on a fan’s face at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida. Among the new developments is a police report that was filed concerning the episode.

As previously reported, during Brass Against’s Thursday set at the rock fest, Urista singled out a male fan in the crowd with a camera mounted to his head. She called him up onto the stage while the band was covering Rage Against the Machine’s “Wake Up.” She then told him to lie down on the stage, at which point she pulled down her pants and urinated on his face. The man, seemingly thrilled by the act, then proceeded to stand up and spit the liquid into the audience. Needless to say, the incident made national headlines.
