Hulu doesn't say what format Shogun comes in - but I am on my work PC that doesn't support 4K. D+ says it goes all the way up to 4K.
On the Hulu app through my LG OS , shogun is saying 4k HDR. When I click play, it comes up in Dolby vision. I don't know what's happening

I am confused now, are these shows popping on D+ regardless if you have Hulu or not?
Hulu is (and I believe ever will be) a separate paid subscription service. They're just unifying the access point. Like if you have YouTubeTV and HBOMAX, you can watch HBOMAX through the YTTV app. Same kind of deal.

I was wondering something similar about these apps. We have the bundle (ads on Hulu). The only thing I watch on ESPN+ are hockey games. Lately almost all of them have also been on Hulu, which is where I watch them since the ESPN app sucks. Would they still be on Hulu if I wasn’t bundled with ESPN+?

I think you have to have ESPN+ to access through Hulu.

I came across a post on Reddit asking if people proactively replace their old hard drives to avoid an unexpected outage, which got me thinking about my TiVos. I know for certain that I upgraded drives in one of them in late 2016, and am 50% certain that I upgraded drives in the other in like 2014. Both were replaced with high quality drives (Seagate Barracude Green, WD-AV Green). But now I'm wondering if I should proactively upgrade both to 4TB WD Red Plus drives to both have brand new hardware, but also double the capacity.

Went to watch a DVD last night, and fired up the PS3 for the first time in years (other than for that weird auto-run issue I was having, where it would turn on at 5 am to check for updates). Popped the DVD in, HDMI switched over the PS3, and go to the title menu. Unfortunately, the PS3 remote (as usual) was dead and needed to be charged...after 40 minutes, I gave up. Ended up ordering a refurbed PS3 remote control, a new battery, and metric screw set to replace the heavily stripped screws (even before I took it apart, as it was a refurbed unit.)

Well, I tried to watch physical media.

It's been a while, but can't you use the regular dual shock controller to play stuff on the ps3? Maybe that was introduced later on and I'm misremembering, I know on the PS5 (and 4 i think) I can use the controller to play 4k discs even though I have the actual media remote.

Yeah, I meant to say PS3 controller, not remote. I only had the Sixaxis controller for the PS3. Hopefully, the PS3 remote that I've ordered works. Kind of a sketchy Amazon seller, so we'll see...

The company I worked for that made the Disney Infinity figures was also the official licensee for the PS3 media remote. Wooo.

It has an unfortunate habit of forgetting its pairing code, and I recall there's something goofy with the volume control. But other than that it's fairly good at remoting.

PSA max is currently offering a limited time 30% discount on yearly plans in advance of march madness. It also works for current subscribers. My ad-free plan was set to renew on 12/12/24 at $149.99. I went in and changed it to the discounted price and now it’ll still renew on 12/12/24 but at $104.99. Not bad.

Nice. I'm in the same boat, so we'll save $45 as well.

I get it for $2.99/month right now with ads from a black friday deal. I think that runs through April. Wonder if I could stack this offer from then.

For some reason, WHYY aired Ask This Old House on their 480i channel for the entirety of S22. So now I'm left grabbing 1080p torrents of it so that I don't feel like I'm watching TV from 1980. Hope that changes with the upcoming season this fall.

Welp, they did it again, so I guess this is on me. They switched the HD channel for the show for the second year in a row, so I've been recording the wrong channel. Fixed now, but this is really on them to be more consistent.

Finally took my comcrap equipment back and canceled cable and downgraded my internet (I don't really need 800mbps). Bill went from $250 to $80. They are such a rip off but it's my own fault for keeping it as long as I did.

Game changer. This is the only reason I'd have possibly stayed with crapcast.

Currently at $268/mo for internet, cable and land line with contract expiring in August. There is a company called GoNetSpeed here locally that has fiber, for $60 a month. We don't even have a phone connected to the landline anymore and nobody calls it, so that can go. We get Disney+ bundle free with Verizon and no indication of it going away, yet. So that's all the NHL games and most college sports plus Hulu.

The RSN was the limiting factor in what we'd go with for regular TV so now I'm looking for the local stations plus TCM, BTN, FS1/2 for Big East basketball and Discovery ID which I guess is included in Max? Plus as much college FB as I can get within reason. Could maybe save a hundo a month.

I'm not sure if EVERYTHING is there but a lot of it is. It really clogs up the app with a bunch of terrible true crime shows.

There are fewer good shows than there used to be. Anymore what I learn is that poor people of all races tend to murder each other more.

Lower quality since Joe Kenda retired for sure.

Wealthy people just have the resources to get away with it.
