Imagine having one of your best seasons ever and getting a legit A&M team in the Gator Bowl and then ending up playing Rutgers
2021-2022 College Football Thread
Also imagine being an SEC team going to Birmingham or whatever and then seeing Rutgers slot in above you at the Gator Bowl.
Also, do we like week 0 bowl games or not?

If you could somehow integrate bowl games with labor day weekend (3 day weekend), I say roll tide. Any reason to extend a road trip is a good reason.

I wonder if you could save maybe the CFP and NY6 bowls for post season. Maybe the Peach Bowl or whatever would feel like a big deal then? Or would we be in the same spot? Also, I like thinking about a bunch of big games early... But do they count? I don't know the logistics of a top ten loss to start the season just because you were good last year and bad teams all starting 0-0 because they survived that weekend.

Fun to think about at least. Something needs changed imo. Maybe it's just less bowl games. Cut them in half

So, we were already bad and now we haven't practiced since odd six and we're gonna play an entire forest...? Whatever day this is gonna be, I am pumped to be busy during it...

I don't know, with apologies to you MACers, I don't think there was really a reason to create a whole new bowl just so they could get a 6-6 North Texas and 6-6 Miami (OH) matchup (or ostensibly to get a Hawai'i team with a losing record into a home field bowl).
I'm kind of amused that the award for the Florida/FSU winner was to play Central Florida. If you had told me 20 years ago that was going to be the state of college football in Florida in 2021 I'd have figured you were high. Not a Gator Hater but I'd kind of like to see the Knights roll tonight.

Hawaii out of the Hawaii Bowl. Xmas eve will have no major sports. So I guess I have to pay attention to the family.

Ucf looked objectively better than the gators tonight. And faster. Just like the NFL, football always wins. I like the idea of early season bowl games but it doesn’t matter because they all get eyes and they all make money.
