Had the same realization with an old friend that I just found out succumbed to colon cancer at the age of 38. Haven't seen him in 20 years, but it still hit me with a sense of reality.

I don't want to speculate but from the posts on Facebook it doesn't appear it was of natural causes. Went missing, they found his phone shortly after, then a few days later his sister had said he died. Another post saying that someone is always there for you if you believe it or not.

Very sad---that said, he had Lewy Body Dementia and was pretty much completely out of it for the last 3+ years. Sucks...RIP.
