Seat Cover, avoid the ass pain: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015TGEV0Y/
It's on sale, too. Can't beat that price.
Don't I need a wide saddle for that to work? My echelon is narrow (not sure what is stock on a Peloton)
I'll measure it in a bit, stuck in a meeting right now.

*edit* 6.5 inches across and 10.5 inches from front to back.

I've been doing 20 minute beginner rides now for about 2 weeks. I try to get one in every day and have been rather successful. It's kind of cool, I actually look forward to doing it. I've never felt that way about exercise in a long while.

Anyway, Today I took one with a new instructor I'd never used before, and the at the end she says that you should do 2 rides a week for the first month. That seems awful low. I'm way out of shape and I do break a significant sweat on the rides but I'm never overly winded or sore to the point I can't ride again the next day.

I presume the advanced beginner rides will get more difficult and perhaps that's what she's referring to. My plan was to level up every 10-15 rides, so that'll be soon.

Do what's comfortable to you.

I just recently I decided I want rhythm and structure to lean on, so I do a ride every other day. It sounds like a lot but really it's only 3/4 rides a week depending on how the days fall.

Beginner and Advanced Beginner rides are more about teaching you what Cadence, Resistence, and Output is. And how to use the bike. The routines themselves don't really get much more complicated until you do the specialized HITT/Hills/Climb rides. You could jump into any of the music rides, save for the metal rides, and probably be just as comfortable. The cadence and resistance are offered to you in ranges so you can adjust to what you need.

A better way to gauge the difficulty of the class is to look at the difficulty score. It's on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the hardest. Beginner rides are in the low 7s, music rides in the low 8s, and then specialty rides push into the high 8s and 9s.
You can look at the score on the details of each ride, or if you want an easier reference just sort all rides by 'Hardest' (or 'Easiest'). If you filter by 20-minute rides and instructors you've taken before the class list will shrink considerably. If you have it sorted by hardest you can then see the classes you've already taken alongside the other kinds of classes, now ranked in order of difficulty.

It sounds complicated when typed out but it's only a few button presses. You can do it on your computer, too, if that's easier. Your bookmarks will save across platforms.

Thanks. I'm using the app on my phone and a non Pelton bike with mapped resistance. I'll give a music ride a try tomorrow. I've got the cadence and resistance down pat. I didn't notice the difficulty score so I'll keep an eye on that.

Do you ever do anything before and after (on the app)? I usually just do a quick stretch before and after on my own

Not on the app. I have a lower body stretch routine that I've been doing for 20 years. I do that as a minimum before cycling and golf.

On off days from cycling when I feel tight I'll do some stretch videos. I've learned some enhanced stretches from that which I've incorporated into my usual stretch routine when I feel like I need it. Mostly hip stretches.

I don't stack classes like skully, I just pick one class that covers the time I need. They classes have (annoying to me) warm-ups in them so I don't need a 5 or 10 minute pre-class class.

I almost religiously do the 5 minute warm ups and cool downs with a class in between. usually after my ride I'll do some kind of strength class. I follow the calendar of a Peloton Facebook group called HardCore on the Floor.

Cool down rides help me after a hard ride quite a bit. I have a Matt Wilpers 5 minute cooldown that is just fast pedaling with little to no resistance. It really flushes my legs out.

I stretch, but not nearly as much as I should, usually a half ass 5 minute after I'm done riding.

lol got my replacement bike today, after 1+ month. Go to pedal, it clicks just like the last one. So far, customer service has been good, but the replacement and support to this, leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm over 50. I stretch for at least 15 minutes a night, mostly for my hips.

That sucks. *knock on wood* I'm almost 700 rides in and no issues. I have about a week to decide if I want to buy the extra warranty and I think I am going to do it to be safe.

It's a horrible habit but I never stretch afterwards. My wife and I used to run endurance together and it drove her mad that I would sit and lay down as soon as we finished.

I've finally gotten in the habit of at least doing a 5 minute cool down every time, but I definitely need to get better with that now that I'm hitting 40 soon

I did a music ride today and OK I know the beginner classes weren't cake but music ride was definitely a bit more.

Anywho, I can't seem to find a difficulty rating in the app (I use an android tablet). Is that only available on the bike? All I see is beginner, intermediate, advanced.

That's a pretty big jump. That would def seem harder coming from a beginner class.

May I recommend a kendall metal ride?

Kendall metal rides are a relax time. Maybe a 6.9 at most.

Her rides for me go from...

Low impact...legit chill.
Pop punk....kinda chill
Rock/hard rock ...less chill...tough...but doable.
Metal...you will feel like you are dead at the end. No chill and she will insult you at least once during the ride lol.

I took almost all of her beginner classes. I mean it has little to do with her looks, she's just the only instructor I had heard of before hand. We have similar music tastes so I guess that makes it work. Zach Bryan on a Pelton class? Yes please.
