Hamilton is coming to Pittsburgh next season. The season ticket holders get first dibs and the Cultural Trust isn't even sure if individual tickets will go on sale since they'll all likely be snatched up by STHs. The one STH at the office is being assaulted on all sides to get them tickets. I feel bad for her.

One of the lawyers at my old place saw Hamilton and came into the office the next workday after and was like, "I had sort of unrealistically high expectations for it, and it exceeded them by an amount that I'm a bit ashamed to admit". The PBS documentary that details the making of the musical while using the OG cast to explore the real life Hamilton story with the odd snippet of the musical thrown in for context is probably the closest I'm going to get to seeing it.

I'm sure 5 years from now, I'll be able to see it at a reasonable price.

The whole thing is nuts. How Miranda got a musical out of a dry-as-hell biography of Alexander Hamilton is breathtaking. He literally got the idea reading it on vacation.
It's playing near me soonish, and I'd love to see it, but probably won't get the chance. I really enjoy the OST and the mixtape. It's just really solid, and very timely.

I'll try to get tickets when they go on sale to the general public. I refuse to pay over face value, though. If I can't score tickets, I'll find a bootleg online with the OC.

I listen to the soundtrack all the way through probably once a week or thereabouts...that's more often than I go through "Let it Bleed" haha

I just don't picture you a Hamilton fan, mikey. No disrespect intended, but just didn't see that coming.

Two years ago, every performance of every engagement of Hamilton was sold out in advance for something like a three-year window.

Seriously, just go to YouTube and look for clips. The take, the writing, the performances.... the whole thing just reeks of awesome.

You're actually right on the money. A girl that I became close with talked it up to me...and, frankly, I dislike most things...I have very few interests in life but I pride myself on being very knowledgeable about those things (tif's line about knowing just enough be annoying at parties, doesn't apply to me...no one talks about hockey or the Rolling Stones at parties haha)...anyway, I listened to the soundtrack because it would make her day if I could talk about it with her...I just don't picture you a Hamilton fan, mikey. No disrespect intended, but just didn't see that coming.
I listened to it the first time through and stood up from my desk at work and while banging my hand on the desk went "shut the **** up, that is the best thing I've ever heard!"
That escalated into me listening to it more, us talking about it more, me learning more about Lin...and finally, going to Broadway to see it...(with the person who introduced me to it, naturally).
To answer the gentleman's question: It's really just how insanely well written it is for me...I mean, a rap battle between Jefferson and Hamilton regarding whether or not we should have a National Bank...?!?! Come on, that's so good.
Even if you don't want to drop a sheet and a half to go see it...listen to the soundtrack on YouTube at least...it's pure gold brilliance...
If anything, I ****** up because now every other theatrical work I see will pale in comparison...
