I saw the thread pop up and mused to myself "Why is it called 'Today's' thread when most of the allegations are years or decades old" and then the excerpt is from 79 years ago.
a) ****, you just beat me to this
b) ****, it's you again...haha

Bela and Martha Karolyi are suing USA Gymnastics for lost wages.

Giant stones on them. What a blinding lack of awareness. Just crawl into a hole and die already.

There are at least two gymnasts that I'm aware of that have filed suit against the Karolyis citing that lack of awareness. I think the Karolyis are seeking indemnification from USAG.

I didn't read into it, just that they're seeking a million in lost wages now their their ranch is not a viable business anymore.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2345 ... allegation
The News reported that APG Security, a private investigation firm with corporate headquarters in South Amboy, New Jersey, and offices in 21 states including Texas, requested the court files for Patricia's case in January. It is not clear whether the Lions contracted the firm to run a background check on Patricia or someone else did.

The News reported that the case against Patricia and Dietrich fell apart when the alleged victim did not respond to attempts to contact her in the weeks following the incident and decided she would not testify.
I can't stand Patricia and wish him the worst in Detroit, but this is straight up mudslinging. There certainly could be truth to the original allegations, but this is literally one accusation from 22 years ago in which the woman suddenly got cold feet.

Edit: Well this changes things...I didn't realize it was assault of a minor  In that case, the decision to not face the witness stand makes a lot more sense.

So, does that make all of the new students victims too...? Are they all to be included in the stats from now on?

that's $768k once you count legal fees.

It could have been as much as $960k if they would have used a Pittsburgh law firm that only charges 25%.

I kinda do, actually. I have like 8 or 10 of his cookbooks, and I learned to cook from watching Molto Mario. It's sad learning someone you respected is such a doosh.
