NPR Up First this morning was pretty disappointing. In their lead up they said, "The CDC says the Delta variant is as contagious as the chicken pox. We'll tell you whether or not that's true." Then, for the actual story they said the Delta variant is 2 to 3 times more contagious than the original. But is it as contagious as chicken pox? No, it's not. The CDC said that was some early research that was leaked. So the takeaway for some people will again be that the CDC lies and things aren't as bad as they say. Such a dumb and irresponsible story. They could've just said it's twice as contagious, or if they really needed to include the chicken pox part said it has contagion levels that approach it, or talked about chicken pox vaccines or something.

I made the mistake of going down a covid rabbit hole and read too many depressing articles, like one where the former CDC director things the variants will just mutate worse and evade vaccines.
