Vanderbilt I think was about a divestiture vote or something. The students/protesters were barred entry into a building, and a few of them barged past security; they're the expelled and suspended students. I don't know any details beyond that (or, honestly, if even that bit is totally accurate - there are a lot of campus protests going on around the country right now and it's hard to keep them straight outside of what's going on locally).
That's what I read as well. I think an immediate suspension that would continue through the next semester would be more appropriate in this case then tarring someones permanent record.

I thought that’s how a guided tour of an official building works

This reminds me of the occupy wall street movement. Most of them are pissed and aren’t quite sure why, but are caught up in the chance to blow off some steam.

At the end of it, nothing will change and it’ll just make all the boomers angry and double vote for trump.

At PSU in 1986 there was a "shantytown" in between the two walkways from the Allen Street entrance up to Willard building demanding that PSU divest from South Africa. Much less involvement than today's protests and most people ignored them.

"It is recommended to avoid Oakland at this time." That's just good any-time advice.

Graduation was this weekend so between now and August 23rd or whatever is probably the best time to head on down.

This feels like when a cop says “I felt threatened” to justify shooting an unarmed person. So because the dog showed aggressiveness (as a 14 month old puppy), you shot it cause it was a danger to livestock?

Doubling and tripling down on murdering your puppy is a good political strategy.

"I didn't train my dog, am surprised it acts untrained, and have no inclination to train it. Time for it to die."

According to the ultra-reliable r/charlotte, there's a dude barricaded in his house shooting at cops IEUX style. 4 cops shot so far.

so I flipped on local news to see if they could shed any more info on what’s going on

all they’ve done is shown tweets from politicians that amount to “thoughts and prayers” and having two field reporters talk about “what they’ve seen” at the two local hospitals which is nothing more than “we’ve seen police vehicles enter the hospital area”

Its kind of laughably pointless
