So he definitely signs with the Patriots in short order right?

I really think a team could have success deploying Fournette similar to how Tennessee has used Derrick Henry.I would like confirmation of this from other GMs. I have a hard time believing not one single GM in the League was willing to part with a 6th round pick for a young back that's probably good for 1,000 yds on the ground and 50+ rec, unless the guy's got some toxicity to him (which I've not heard about).
NFL
The Bucs only have around $2mil, and Fournette was in the final year of a rookie contract that was set to pay him $4 mil (it was apparently guaranteed, and may have been part of the hurdle in finding a trade partner). He was cut outright, so I believe that means that contract is voided and he's in line to get second-contract type money a year ahead of schedule; I'm not sure he'd be willing to take a 50% pay cut for the chance to be in Brady's backfield for a season or two, but who knows. If I was Tampa, I would go after him if they have the cap room for it.

If a team trades for a player, I believe they have to take on his salary situation and with Fournette up for a renewal to his rookie contract, nobody probably wanted to deal with that extension. But if Jax cuts him and he's on the open market, then a team can sign him for whatever incentive-laden contract they want and deal with it in a much better cap-friendly structure.I would like confirmation of this from other GMs. I have a hard time believing not one single GM in the League was willing to part with a 6th round pick for a young back that's probably good for 1,000 yds on the ground and 50+ rec, unless the guy's got some toxicity to him (which I've not heard about).

I don't know anything about the football marketplace, but it feels like DBs, especially corners, kind of get rotated through pretty quickly...outside of a few elite guys, it seems like everyone just backfills the position with mid-round draft picks that are young, fast, and average...the rules of the league seem to negatively affect the skill at the position as well making it less intrinsically valuable...I also am not paying very close attention, so I'd be interest to hear thoughts...

Agreed. Hell, look at how quickly Darrelle Revis went from elite to a retread that was getting passed around the NFL. He was completely shot by the time he was 30. I would be much more inclined to spend that kind of cheddar on an elite safety like an Ed Reed type.I don't know anything about the football marketplace, but it feels like DBs, especially corners, kind of get rotated through pretty quickly...outside of a few elite guys, it seems like everyone just backfills the position with mid-round draft picks that are young, fast, and average...the rules of the league seem to negatively affect the skill at the position as well making it less intrinsically valuable...I also am not paying very close attention, so I'd be interest to hear thoughts...

Anyone remember Nnamdi Asomugha? He was great for the Raiders and then the Eagles threw that giant contract at him and he fell off the face of the planet. I wouldn't doubt the same thing happens to Ramsey.

I always thought he was overrated, personally.Anyone remember Nnamdi Asomugha? He was great for the Raiders and then the Eagles through that giant contract at him and he fell off the face of the planet. I wouldn't doubt the same thing happens to Ramsey.

I only remember him at all because his name vaguely sounds like:
