I just witnessed an individual at the gym with a “Mean Tweets 2024” t-shirt on. We are doomed
This is sort of what I mean with "they're not voting for fascism". They're voting for "LET'S GO BRANDON!!! WOOOOO!!!!"

Similar to going to a restaurant and ordering calamari. They're not ordering squid. They might not even know calamari is made from squid... they're just ordering calamari.
It’s this. The right will eventually win this because the big money from businesses are behind their efforts. They have already succeeded in making it about “your team” and not the person. I feel it really will be a train slowly starting and by the time the majority sees an error in what has been done the mass that is a fully loaded train will take a long time to stop and reverse.
The irony in this exchange is palpable.

Voted for 2 fascists and 2 good old fashioned socialist authoritarians. Such is the state of our democracy these days.

Extreme polarization really gets scary in a 2 party system. I need a shower.

Yeah. I’m done with giving “both sides are equally as bad” argument any consideration at all. There are flaws with the dnc for sure and feel free to discuss them. I’ll likely agree with you, but the idea that both are equally bad. Nah. Done with it.

They ran out of ballot paper in Luzerne County and had to turn voters away.

Imagine if they had to date their ballots though

Polls are staying open until 10pm there, I guess they found the paper?

A news article from yesterday: "Luzerne County among 64 jurisdictions to undergo election monitoring by the U.S. Justice Department"

Heh

They extended the hours to account for the 4 hours of no voting. Idiotic

Why would they not extend the hours to let people vote when there were no ballots?

Yeah... extending the hours make the most sense in absence of being able to provide a secondary polling location.

Otherwise you're saying you're OK with disenfranchising a bunch of voters because of logistical issues which is certainly a take.

Are there any accounts from a German citizen’s perspective during the Nazi era? I feel like that would be an interesting perspective re: voting for fascism.
Well, there's "The Diary Of Anne Frank"..........

My college professor, Jackson Spielvogel, has a book called "Hitler and Nazi Germany: A History", which is pretty excellent.
I doubt the German people “voted for fascism”. They were supporting someone who they believed was offering solutions to gigantic problems. Unfortunately those solutions were predicated on hatred, distrust and militarism…which sounds eerily familiar
To paraphrase the great Lawrence of Arabia, the trick, Weenie, is not minding that it's fascism. As others have said, they aren't necessarily tuned in to the particulars, they just see the world around them changing - what with all the queers in 3rd grader's bathrooms and $5 gas and so damn many WOKEs all over the place - and the loudest voices in opposition to that at this point in time happen to be fascist s**theads who have taken over the only party that represents a realistic political alternative. The downside of supporting them - you know, the fascism part of fascism - is secondary to making it all go away back to a simpler time.

But the Third Reich didn't arise as some goofy final 2 minutes of a Scooby Doo episode where everyone was surprised by the identity of the dastardly villain. Nor will right wing extremism in this country poof up out of nowhere. We know who and where they are, they aren't exactly being quiet about it. To Shyster's somewhat ludicrous question the other days: Yes, there are that many people in this country who would gladly vote for fascism. They may not call it fascism, and they may bristle at being called out as fascist for supporting fascists. But that spade is a spade.

Yeah thanks I thought the application of "idiotic" in my statement was common sense
