I’ve received 4 texts from Tim Scott’s campaign over the last week. All have been detected as spam by my Pixel, blessed be. I’m not sure why he’s bothering with any of it, as I hadn’t even heard of his Dem opponent. I’ve already voted (and left that race blank).

This whole dating of the ballot envelope thing...... I know the signature has to match a sample on file with the SecState, but what requirement is there that the date be accurate? How can that even be verified? Maybe next time I'll just date it "November 5, 1955" and see what happens

I wasn't sure if California required that.Couldn't have, otherwise they wouldn't have been counted, as that is an indecipherable and very confusing promptDid you have to date them?Got confirmation that our mail ballots were received and counted yesterday. No ID needed!

I purposely sign my name differently each election and not once had an issue. Pretty sure I’ve mentioned this here in the past when the topic came up, too. This whole dating of the ballot envelope thing...... Would you be notified if there was an issue, or would your ballot just be discarded?I purposely sign my name differently each election and not once had an issue. Dunno about mail in ballots, but I have literally scribbled my name right next to the signature they have on the sheet in person. Never a word about it. And signatures should not have to match for plenty of reasons.Would you be notified if there was an issue, or would your ballot just be discarded?I purposely sign my name differently each election and not once had an issue. I also did not show my ID last year “nah, I forgot it and it’s not required” and the lady didn’t object to anything. Plan on doing it again next week, too.

I actually think it's a little bit funny (at least, like, there is a minute amount of humor value, and it's not cringey) that he's going on the offensive in the way that he is...
Live negotiation with Stephen King, the whole Starbucks meme thing, it's not bad...there are no gut-busters in there, the people falling all over themselves to allege that "free speech is now $8" are much worse...

I see AOC’s point though. Musk is rallying the troops with the idea that Twitter and their censorship is bad. Except now he’s going to require a subscription? It’s so disingenuous on his part. I don’t care if he charges money or not but don’t act like you’re a bastion of free speechI actually think it's a little bit funny (at least, like, there is a minute amount of humor value, and it's not cringey) that he's going on the offensive in the way that he is...

The "joke" is that the "free" in "free speech" means free as in liberty, not free as in money, and AOC is a vacuous twit for thinking anything to the contrary.

There isn't anything genius Musk can do that will both make Twitter better and allow him to satisfy his massive interest burden
I think he views his X app (or website or whatever) as the like US based "all in one" application. I don't really understand the pros and cons are of those all in one things, but widespread adoption is going to have basically override years of market forces that established how we currently live on our phones.

I don’t think she means financially free. Requiring payment is in a way a gate to speech. Not everyone has $8 a month to spend to post

But he's not charging to use the app, right? He's charging for status, not for speech. Unless I'm way off...
Now, that said, I'm not sure about this plan...he'd probably be better served focusing on businesses paying for status (blue checkmarks, etc.) because it's uniquely interactive from that perspective...and maybe have like a patreon element to the platform as well...but there's no real content creation on twitter compared to, say, YouTube, Spotify, OnlyFans (or, so I've read), etc.
This is mostly just short little quips and some graphs or whatever...it's probably not worthwhile for, say, Jake Guentzel to pay $8/month for people to know that this is Jake Guentzel re-tweeting something...
