This new employment agreement (evidently due by Friday) seems pretty heavy handed...
- 2 year (after employment) non-compete
- I have to give 60 day notice if I leave, and it says they have the right to terminate me without further liability upon that notice (which I understand, but if we're going to be that specific, I'd like it to also mention that my PTO needs to be paid out, etc.)
- It appears I'm no longer subject to random drug testing (which seemed to go away with covid), but it reads like I'd need to take another pre-employment drug test...
- ...which wouldn't be so bad, but then the "Choice of Law" clause says "we're using Florida's rules" - which I don't know anything about, but I assume it's less worker friendly than New York...which means a THC positive could be problematic.
Some of this stuff seems more or less boiler plate...it's the old thing I say with our clients, basically, "you can't just indemnify yourself out of everything that goes wrong...that's not how things work" ...but some of it seems needlessly heavy handed...no?

I think FL has a 'reasonable suspicion' provision for employer drug testing. So.....................

Yeah, that's written into the contract and is pretty much across the board...I'm not worried about that because I don't do drugs during the day haha
But if I want to have an edible - legal in NY - on the weekends, that's not my employer's business...

Can people chill with the meetings. Tomorrow is wall to wall. 9-5. I can guarantee I am not doing anything other than converse in these meetings (maybe) between now and Jan 3. Chill, people. Chill.

Yeah, my entire calendar is full tomorrow and I’m not going to a single one of them because it’s my last day until 1/2.

Tuesday was my meeting heavy day. Back to back all day. Since then it’s been sparse to non existent which has been nice.

I have an interview tomorrow, and the staffing company that set me up sent me a list of their questions, so just wondering, What is a decent answer to "What are you weaknesses?"

I care too much.

I have a sweet tooth.

One of my actual weaknesses is that I care too little, but I don't think I can get hired with that one.I care too much.

Think of something that you could maybe work on and make up some shtick about how you've been working on it and improving. No one wants to hear I don't have any weaknesses or any of that bs

"I learned after talking with some teammates that everyone learns things a little differently and so I've been working on trying to be more in tune with different learning styles and how I can better help them vs using a one size fits all approach"

This - like most things - is a test of how well you read people.
Why does anyone ask that question? Well, there's generally two types of people in this scenario...people that ask questions that everyone else asks (likely) or people that actually want to hear the thought process around the answer...there's also a third group of people who are interested in the answer, but I'm assuming most of them are attritioning out of the workforce, let's ignore them...you don't want that job anyway.
For me, there's no reason to stray too far from the truth because that's more you have to remember...you don't empathize with folks too much maybe, so "care too much " derivatives isn't the answer...but if you're a worker bee, a derivative of 'I have trouble saying 'no' to things" or "I'm just not very good at asking for help" is probably a good way to go, then you mix it into your time served and from that point you either got the interviewer so far back on their heels that they'll move on to their next (likely) empty question or they're also military and you'll make that connection...

What ulf said.
An experience gap; saying 'no'; majoring on minors........ stuff you can say you recognize and are working on, but won't make you sound like you are incapable of doing the job, or they will need to call the police on you at some point.
The key part is the response to the weakness, how you explain you're addressing it.

Today is my last day of 2023. Good riddance. Was a hell of a year. Hoping 2024 is smoother.
