I don't know why, but I have little interest in seeing that - especially not with a 3.5 hour run time.

Well, the trailer was ****. That's my main reason for not having much interest in it.

That's why I'm kinda glad its on Netflix. I'll be able to watch it over a couple nights if I don't have the time.I don't know why, but I have little interest in seeing that - especially not with a 3.5 hour run time.

De Niro playing an Irish guy is laughable, too.

pretty sure Jimmy the Gent was an Irish American gangster in Goodfellas...De Niro playing an Irish guy is laughable, too.

I don't remember how it played out in the movie, but because the real guy he was based on was not Italian he could never be a made man.

pretty sure it was the same thing in the movie and that worked out just fine

Him playing an Irish man in any movie is a hard sell.

Finally got around to this last night...totally agree with these comments, it was taut and not filled with needless filler.I thought it was nearly perfect in that there was very little that could have been cut. There were a few things that I thought were glossed over if anything. Best horror film I have seen in years. Also, "A Quiet Place" was solid, if unspectacular. Taut, efficient little film that ends precisely at the right time.
It's basically Bird Box meets Signs.

Randomly picked out The Dead Don't Die to watch last night; well that movie was something. There were a lot of laugh out loud moments and callbacks (I particularly liked Centerville from Zappa's 200 Motels and WU-PS), but this is not a fast moving movie at all. Looking back, I don't think I've ever seen anything else from Jim Jarmusch since Dead Man with Johnny Depp, but this guy seems way out there. I'd probably guess the majority of people would not like this movie. It's pretty weird and I am now looking forward to seeing if his other movies are like this.

Hmm, I have that on my TiVo ready to go. May put it behind some of the others now.

It's definitely a zombie satire much in the same way Romero's were. This probably explains it better than I can without spoiling anythingHmm, I have that on my TiVo ready to go. May put it behind some of the others now.
https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the- ... t-die-2019The premise of "The Dead Don't Die" is as basic as it gets. Watching it is, I would imagine, a bit like watching a world-class chef make a grilled cheese sandwich. There's only so much you can do with this specific dish, but it's still fun to watch a master slice the cheese and blood-red tomatoes, every move as graceful as Zelda's. Jarmusch seems amused not just by how little his own screenplay asks of him, but also by the (maybe unnecessarily severe) constraints he's placed on himself. He leans extra-hard into self-awareness. The result evokes those old Looney Tunes shorts where Bugs and Daffy realize they're in a cartoon. When a character suddenly acquires voice-over powers and begins summarizing thematic aspects of the script that were already made plain by the acting and directing (such as the notion that, in an a way, these mindless materialists were already dead, hmmm) it's as Jarmusch is jabbing a bony elbow in the ribs of a genre he loves (Romero's satire wasn't subtle, either) while simultaneously making extra-sure we hear what he's saying.
And what is he saying? Worry. Prepare. This is going to end badly.

And it has Sturgill Simpson doing the theme song and mentioned throughout. I really dug it. As the review said above, punk rock in slow motion is what you have here.

That's a much better trailer than the teaser. The de-aging still looks odd but my guess is once you're "in" the movie you won't notice it as much.

Not surprising in the least, but sounds like Scorsese nailed the Irishman
