Keller has seemed pretty overrated since he brokeout. I've thought of him as a B prospect compared to Cole Taillon and Glasnow. Still I think he'll be good, I just don't have anywhere the same expectations I did for the other 3. I mean rudy owens and ian snell were putting up the same performances in the minors

I thought Keller was a lower ceiling, higher floor guy. But that was based on his control in the lower levels. They've somehow managed to mess that part of his game up.

This is also an issue primarily at the major league level. I mean, the guys on the pitching staff that were good last year have been terrible. I wonder if just other teams know what they Pirates are doing and teeing off.

Can you tee off on nothing? Apparently, yes!

Source of the post I officially decided that I think GMNH's time is up
I was here 2 years ago, then somehow Uncle Moneybags decided he and Hurdle needed a 4 year extension. The more I think about it, the more I believe he got lucky for a 2 year stretch (in 2015 he coasted). Before 2013, I was also ready to give up on him, but just when I thought he couldn't be any dumber, he totally redeemed himself.

I wonder is anyone would even want the GM job given how handcuffed they would be.

There's only 30 GM jobs and ya make a lot of money, even on a cheap ass team like the Pirates.

Depending on the definition of handcuffed, there are a decent amount of teams out there that do well with great GMs. Oakland, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Tampa just off the top of my head.

The A's are who I always think of when people use the starting pitcher injury excuse for the Pirates. Last year they went 97-65 despite losing 8 of their top 11 starting pitchers, including their first and third starters to TJS and their second starter to shoulder labrum surgery. Instead of "bullpenning" with bad AAA relievers and pretending Rookie Davis earned a shot, they went out and signed Trevor Chail and Brett Anderson (who both had multiple DL stints) and made mid-season trades for Edwin Jackson and Mike Fiers. Actually trying to win is a hell of a thing.

What did they trade though? I feel like for all this depth the Pirates have in the system we always hear about. There's really only 5 notable guys ever talked about.

Looks like Jackson was actually a June signing, not a trade. Fiers was acquired for two scrubs.

Seems like the Pirates allow 6+ runs in pretty much every game.

Seems like the Pirates allow 6+ runs in pretty much every game.
After this game they will average at least 5.65 runs allowed per game, they've allowed 6 plus in 27 of 68 games, their most frequently allowed run total is 5 (10 games), and they allowed 2.5 runs per game in March, 4.16 in April, 6.48 in May, and with two innings left in this game they've allowed 7.25 runs per game in June. At this rate they should be allowing about 10 runs per game in September.

In comparison, the Rays lead the league at 3.3 RA/G and the league average is 4.7.

So in the Twitter post with the final score, #Barves fans replied with various pics of Tiger Woods and a broom. I get the broom, but what's up with Tiger Woods? Is he a Braves fan?

It's a meme that I've been meaning to ask about as well. Noticed it the home series they had here last week and still never knew what it was about.

Kingham traded to the Blue Jays for cash. He had been DFA’d early this week.
