Why wouldn't Trump just admit that he was wrong? If this was recorded (sure it's being used to sell a book), but why wouldn't they just come out and say something like that?

Now they're going to damage control for something that doesn't even warrant it had he just owned up to it, I think.

I can’t remember the exact quote but Bolton has had this approach since Nixon and it seems Trump was already well versed. Basically Bolton said something along the lines of, “never admit fault/take responsibility, deflect/blame someone, attack, attack, attack.” In reference to fighting a political battle.

I really don't see this as a big revelation, other than the fact that Trump was stupid enough to admit it to a reporter. The idea that any top official didn't know how deadly this was is laughable. As I've mentioned before, in early Jan I was reading posts on Reddit with videos from China showing people passing out/dropping over in the street, on buses, etc. from a "mystery virus". Everyone who mattered knew how bad this could be. They just chose to sit on their hands.

And to dump their stocks, and then cash in on the huge public to private giveaway.

It's the BS Roy Cohn model. Deflect, distract, never admit fault or give in, lie and attack, lie and attack some more, publicity at all costs no matter if it's good or bad, reliance on the power of chaos and fear. This is how you 'win'.
