Ooh, Giacchino is a good pull. That actually might be the first time I became aware of his work.

Looks like Microsoft is bringing most (or all) exclusives to PlayStation and Switch, effectively making owning an Xbox fairly pointless. If it actually happens, I’ll be making the switch to PlayStation next gen. If they’re going the way of Sega, I might as well get the system where I can play Spiderman too.

I was toying with buying MSFS for XBox. Which means buying an XBox. Would be great if I could just buy a PS5 instead.

They’re going to announce their strategy soon but supposedly Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and possibly the new Indy game will be coming to PS. I wouldn’t be surprised if the strategy is all exclusives become timed exclusives. So yeah, I’d hold off.

An article I glanced at said MSFS is on the rumored list. Giggity.

I just looked into buying an XBox last week specifically just for MSFS. This would be great.

This is hard to square in the context of spending beaucoup bucks on ATVI and ZeniMax to pump their First Party muscles.

I do have great memories of a lot of 8 bit NES game scores as well, and who among us hasn't hummed various Super Mario Brothers themes?
I remember 19 year old me being blown away by the D Day level...Great game

Been playing through Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth... As per usual, just a stupid amount of content.

Some of the side activities are almost full games in their own right.

Gonna be another game I put a crap load of time in and get nowhere near the platinum.

I'm starting down the rabbit hole of Yakuza finally. They had Yakuza 0 plus Kiwami 1 and Kiwami 2 (which I saw were remakes of 1 and 2 i believe) on ps store for like 13$ so downloaded that. Then I grabbed Yakuza remastered collection which is 3/4/5 in physical format, and Yakuza 6 as well from Amazon. Figure that should get me started. Hopefully I like it, but I only spent like $60 all in for everything so it was worth a shot.

A minor quibble with Cyberpunk, but once I noticed it, it's a constant stone in my shoe. The way cars and motorcycles shift gears is wrong. I think each vehicle has seven gears, and the game basically has each gear correspond to a speed range, so for example your vehicle will never shift into seventh gear unless it's nearing its top speed. But that's not how any automatic transmission ever works, and neither would any human shift gears like that.

This one is kind of interesting to me. The last place I worked before we moved to SF was involved with the Disney Infinity video game series. We manufactured the little 3" figurines of Disney characters with RFID chips in them; put the figure on a special reader base, and that character avatar would appear in your game as the skin of your PC. Vry neat, you could play the game as Jack Sparrow and you're friend could play as Pluto. So I wonder if they're going to leverage that tech in some way and just move it to Fortnite.

Infinity was great. We had it on the Wii and my kids loved it. Then discontinued very quickly. When we moved I tried selling the figures on eBay. Only a few sold and local used game store didn't want them. Sad.

Yeah that trend died a quick death. My nephew was HUGE into Skylanders and had a ton of those figures. Pretty sure they're all in a storage box under the stairs now.

Well, they are worthless nocera. I don't even think the backend of the game works any longer. I think we also had it for the PS4 and had a PS4 only Boba Fett. The figure worked on the Wii version, of course, but it came with the PS4 game bundle. That's the only one we sold iirc.

 I used to go figure hunting with them all over the city looking for rare variants. It was super fun. At some point I'm sure he had a few that were worth big bucks. But yeah, they're all worthless now.

How quickly, you ask? We came into work one day in the middle of negotiations for 4.0 and received notice from Disney Interactive that they were terminating the project. I mean, it was just that quick...... the CEO and boss engineer had calls scheduled with the DI business team later that same day. For us, it basically meant we were given a 60-day notice that a $200 million breach in our revenue stream was about to be blown open. Fun fact: We got the business because that boss engineer guy invented the RFID tech unique to Infinity, it was our secret sauce. He actual given name is "Storm", which is an excellent name for an electrical engineer.

I have never played the games myself, but I have like 50 of the little figures all around my office. Production samples, mostly. I have a few in final packaging, they might be the only ones that actually have RFID chips in them.

I knew it was quick, but not that quick. I envisioned them releasing new figures for every IP, new games as new consoles released and so on. On the face of it, that whole ecosystem looked like an endless money maker. As a parent, I'm kind of glad it stopped

Anyway, I envision this new partnership with Fortnite and Disney to be very similar to Infinity, just without the physical figures or base unit.

So it sounds like the Monroeville Convention Center got sold, and they cancelled alot of the shows happening later this year including PGX. They are trying to find an alternate location, but seems like this came out of nowhere so that sucks.
