It’ll be fun when they walk back on this, make it a triple threat, have Cody win at Mania, then pretend like it was the plan all along. Real #YesMovement vibes.

What’s crazy is he’s getting booed at a house show, the most casual family friendly crowd possible. Imagine what’s going to happen in a football stadium full of smarks.

Better than a triple threat would be giving Rock/Roman night one with Cody/Roman headlining night two. Roman has a built in excuse for losing the second night after a hard fought win over Rock the night before. Maybe Cody has to win a match on night 1 to grant him the title shot the next night? Hell, have him beat Seth night 1 and then unify the titles night 2.

Cody winning the belt in a 3 way would be lame both for him and Reigns... after that kind of title reign, it should end with some sort of epic battle with the top babyface (i.e. last Wrestlemania!)...

Hopefully if this is a swerve or they try to correct it they do the 2 night thing... that is a lot more palatable than the 3 way IMO.

I’m now getting big “this is a work” vibes. Multiple WWE stars “going rogue” and supporting Cody make me think the plan was/is, send The Rock out. If people buy it, then great. If not and they (fans) get behind Cody even more then we have some f*ckery as a plan B that we can say we were doing all along. It’s Daniel Bryan again!

It shouldn't have had to go that far to begin with. I could understand them doing that to Cody last year, but having him win the Rumble twice is ridiculously dumb, to waste it two years in a row.

I think they expected fans to rally behind Cody. I don't think they expect fans to turn on the Rock. We still need to see if that translates to casual fans. I think WWE figured they'd get the big number with Rock and Reigns at Mania, then they can still do Cody at another PPV (probably Summerslam). But if the fan base turns on the Rock, I don't think they'll risk a main event disaster at Mania.

Cody is more over than Bryan was honestly. They don't need to do some stupid angle to get him more over. He is the most over guy on their roster and it ain't even close.

I don't think it's a work at all. I think they are just that stupid and are moving forward with what they want to do.

Bryan was the hardcore fans getting behind a "worker" that was clearly being looked over by Vince and co. Cody has been the man since he came back to WWE. He has won two Rumbles, was in the main event of Mania, and has had a year long angle to "finish the story." The only similarity is that the fans are pissed at how Mania was handled.

Agree. Which is why the whole it's a "work" thing doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah I don't think it's a work. I just think they didn't expect people to turn on the Rock. If there is a pivot back to Cody, they'll pretend like it was the plan all along, of course.

I don’t think it’s Bryan. I think that’s the WWE’s current logic. It’s still not good but I expect some f*ckery to happen that puts Cody back in with Dwayne and Roman.

Depending on how much you believe Meltzer, he is saying that the mania match was part of the agreement with The Rock when he joined the board and all of that. It was kept secret from almost everybody.

He also says their idea was to try to make Cody a martyr Ala DB but doesn't think they anticipated the backlash against The Rock.

Then why have Cody win the Rumble and point at Roman? Is Meltzer saying that it was even kept secret from HHH and whoever booked the Rumble? I don't know how they could expect the Rock to be anything but a massive heel.

He didn't clarify who knew or didn't. It wouldn't make any sense for the head of creative to not know something like that...

It also wouldn't make sense for the head of creative to book a dude to win the Rumble, point to the champ, then be like "nah, just kidding, I want the secondary belt" but here we are.

You either die the People's Champ, or you live long enough to see yourself become the Corporate Champ.

So they negotiate that deal with the Rock. Pre-Royal Rumble, and Cody still wins.

Hell, they could have bloodline interference within the Rumble and eliminated Cody and had the Rock join last or something and having Reigns says he interfered to finish the bloodline story. That took all of 3 seconds and made more sense than what happened.

Now here we are, Cody is damaged, Reigns is damaged, and the Rock looks like he pulled a Hulk Hogan.

Swerve and Hangman just had a banger of a 30 minute time limit draw. Just beautifully done pro wrestling.

3 way at revolution now.

Also hangman heel turn should be fun.

Swerve is that guy.
