The trial evaluated 45 people. Each participant received 10, 30 or 100 microgram doses of the vaccine or a placebo.
The company said one of its four coronavirus vaccine candidates produced neutralizing antibodies, which researchers believe is necessary to build immunity to the virus, in all participants who received two of the 10 or 30 microgram doses after 28 days, according to the preliminary data, which was posted in a paper released on MedRXiv. The company said the levels of neutralizing antibodies were 1.8 to 2.8 times higher than in recovered Covid-19 patients.
After 28 days, all participants in the two lower dose groups had significant levels of binding antibodies, the company said.
Pfizer said the vaccine was generally well tolerated, though the experimental vaccine caused fever in some patients, especially for those who were in the 100 microgram group. Most patients reported pain at the injection site, which was mild to moderate, the company said, except in one of 12 subjects who received a 100 microgram dose, which was severe.
The findings posted Wednesday have not been peer-reviewed yet.
I'd tolerate a bit of fever and injection site pain to potentially have immunity.
Yeah, I am in the same boat. And I say this as someone that got the smallpox vaccine when I was active duty, and nothing could be worse than what that was like.I'm obviously not anti-vaxx, but I have to be honest, a vaccine that has been accelerated through development this quickly does make me nervous.

If the clinical trial doesn't include virus being expelled through the mask, it's kind of worthless.Challenges when using facial masks outside the health care system include wearing the mask consistently, an efficacy of the mask of app. 8 hours necessitating a change of mask throughout the day, and that it is not sufficiently tight enough to safely keep the virus out. Moreover, the eyes (mucous membrane) remain exposed. Compliance could also be another challenge.
SARS-COV2 is assumed to primarily enter the body via the mouth through respiratory droplets - or possibly through inhalation of aerosol containing the virus. From the mouth the virus is assumed to spread to the airways and the gastro-intestinal tract. SARS-COV2 is also known to be transmitted via physical contact, helped along by the fact that the virus can survive on surfaces for at least 72 hours. Touching such a contaminated surface can transfer the virus to the mouth via the hand - and thus lead to infection of the person.
Facial masks are expected to protect against viral infection in two ways;
By reducing the risk of getting the virus in via the mouth or nose via respiratory droplets or aerosol
By reducing the transfer from virus-contaminated hands to the mouth or nose
They could make it mandatory to get a job, license, go to school, and etc.can't make it mandatory but hopefully schools and daycares require it. And hospitals for health care workers.
Needs to balance his weight better. Add something to the front of his basket like a cheating bobsledder.
until there is either a cure or some good science saying it isnt necessary?I was thinking today: how long do you think until "social distancing" will no longer be recommended?
Vaccine, treatment, or cure.I was thinking today: how long do you think until "social distancing" will no longer be recommended?
Or until the case count is low enough to have effectively contained the spread.until there is either a cure or some good science saying it isnt necessary?I was thinking today: how long do you think until "social distancing" will no longer be recommended?
Is this about the vaccine uncertainty? Trust me, I get how it looks. I actually think it goes against my brand, to be honest."I'm gonna wait for science to tell me how we're gonna deal with this and get out of this...I don't care if it takes the rest of my life!"
[Science shows potential for ending this garbage]
"Hmmmm...I'll wait for some more negative science...I don't trust this kind."
Haha, I know I'm taking liberties, but it read exactly like that the first time through...it's perfectly on brand...
