They started us back after Memorial Day. We run in split teams in accordance with our 9.80 schedules, so we have maybe 40-50 people in our office max. This also doesn't account for those who continue to WFH since their daycare is not available.
Team A:
Monday - WFH
Tuesday - Office
Wednesday - WFH
Thursday - Office
Friday - Scheduled Day off.
Following week:
Monday: Office
Tuesday: WFH
Wednesday: Office
Thursday: WFH
Friday: Office short day
Team B would run the opposite of what is posted.
We're supposed to run like this until after the 4th of July.

I wish my work would at least tease their plan for us. It's been nothing so far. If I get several WFH days (equating to 50% yearly) that's a huge deal for me, someone with a massive commute.

Ours came out that the office will officially open 6/14 and everyone will be expected to work in the office starting 7/6. I'm cool with it. Was hoping I'd be able to keep a couple WFH days a week when this ended but I don't think that'll happen. Gonna be an adjustment going back, that's for sure

There is talk about us returning to the office after July 4. Directors and above with five or more total reports were sent a survey on their teams productivity and efficiency throughout the work from home period. I basically have full marks across the board. Our CIAO dropped a hint that returning to old way was not going to happen and a more hybrid approach was going to be taken.

Our management was sent a survey, as well. My manager basically went the same route as you - 100% effective in every way working from home full time. I imagine a lot of managers are going to say the same. We do have one manager in IS who hates work from home, and will likely find something to complain about, and it will most likely have nothing to do with working from home.

Out of the blue, we’re starting to go back to work June 15th, only 20% of us in the building at one time and then only for a few days. Previous directives said not before July. We’ll do masks in common areas, but not in our offices. Our building, a library, will be closed to non-building staff for the time being. That’s what I was concerned about, having a parade of community and faculty in the building. We’ll have to put plexiglass cough guards up when the students come back (all summer classes are online now).
We’re also working through Labor Day and no Fall Break, with in-seat instruction done the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
And remember our president who was forced to resign suddenly back in September, due to financial concerns and sleeping with students? Our new president started this week. She immediately ended two open VP positions - about $250K in salary plus benefits. Our administrative team was getting way too bloated, and this is a good step in the right direction.

First day back for me since April 3rd. I got over wanting to come back within the first couple hours. Turned out to be the longest paid vacation I ever had

Gearing up for my first round of furloughs since becoming management. It’s tough.

Catch bullshit coming in both directions.
My skills, training, and compassion I have for my original role are so diminished by mundane tasks like filling out maintenance request forms, talking to whinging college students (and their parents on occasion) about why they need to pay for a lost book, my own staff bickering with each other, and so on and so forth.
19 years to go...

Management... it’s tough because all our lives in some way we’re taught to climb that ladder to get satisfaction.
After leaving my previous company and a management role there I seriously thought about what I want from a job and came to the conclusion that management wasn’t it,
Things I liked,
Helping individuals on the team grow
Working with potential future leaders to further develop their ideas
Teaching people how to build relationships
Things I didn’t like,
As said above catching **** both ways
Holding people that have families, bills, lives, etc. accountable and at times having to fire them
The expectation of long hours and always availability
I realized I’m much more of a facilitator/bridge builder and really enjoy that aspect of business. Helping others grow, looking at a problem in a different way, evaluating the effectiveness of process/procedures; that’s what gives me a charge. Not specifically management.

All true, especially that last one. Especially now that we are WFH.

I'll add that managing millenials makes me want to stick a pen in my eye.

I manage people aged 22 to 64. Millennials are by far the easiest - in my experience. By far
