I’m not sure it’s really necessary to have a playoff. Crown their ass.

This isn't meant to be a jinx, but the Georgia defense this past season might be the greatest I've ever seen. 6.9 ppg.

We'll see if they can get the job done.

So if Georgia loses and Cincinnati wins, the top 4 stays the same right?

Bama goes to one and Georgia to three but yes.

Damn it Georgia you had one fcking job. Their inability to beat Bama is comical at this point.

Shitty HD is much more noticeable on bigger/nicer tvs. FiOS has decent HD but it's still compressed. Fox at least broadcasts in 4k sometimes for college football.

Yeah I’m still getting used to that with the new TV. The closeups on Fox look great but the regular hard camera is ass.

Yup… win a power 5 championship and you’re in with 3 at large. It gives a clear cut way to get in the playoffs: win your conference. Cinci, ND, and Georgia are your at large this year. It’s just too simple.

P5 champs + best G5 + 2 at-large. Cincy would have been in my model even with a loss after SD St got blitzed.

As for the 4, this is why people shouldn’t lose their minds when ESPN trots out their fraudulent TV show at the end of October. Play the season out and let the games happen. The picture will clear itself and college football doesn’t need any extra attention.

I’m not willing to give an automatic beyond the p5 champs. You want to get an auto? Join a conference that matters.

@DigitalGypsy66 : What's your take on that? I have been very surprised how many good openings Venables was not interested in (Auburn, Arkansas (when UofA still had money to burn...) ) - and those were the schools that fired an underperforming coach - so the new coach would get the credit for "re-building". And now Vanables goes into the situation where everything he does will be compared against the ghost of popular and successful (albeit 'ungrateful') Riley...

Plus, I still remember that dinner with my Clemson friends who were assuring me that the other Clemson coordinator (OC Chad Morris) will build Arkansas into a national powerhouse, because Chad was the best thing since sliced bread...
And then he went 4-18 and 0-14 in the SEC... :D

And that's a bit of the elitist attitude that needs to be dumped out of college football. It's ridiculous to me that Division 1-A college football is the only sport in the USA where a team goes out for their first practice of the season knowing that they have ZERO shot of winning their sport's championship. In a perfect world, it's a 16-team playoff where all 10 conference champions get in and then there are 6 at-larges and you seed them and go. Play the first two rounds on campus beginning next weekend and then have the semifinals on New Years Day just like the current setup. I'm sure there would be a boatload of cash available to be made for all the teams and conferences involved. But the elitists of the football world (read: Power 5 conferences) want to get their greedy hands on all the cash and not grow the sport.

You knew they wouldn't put Alabama and Georgia as 2 and 3 even though it probably should be that way.

I would have gone Michigan Alabama Cincy Georgia. Gets you the same games, but if you don't win your conference, you get lowest seed.
