Got my first shot today. It was for all the teachers in the county, plus any older residents who hadn't gotten it yet. It was incredibly efficient. I was in and out in 25 minutes, including the 15 minute post-shot wait time.
Where did you go?
It was a mass clinic in Monroe run through Atrium health.
You can thank ya boy meow for that one

I can’t take credit for that. That’s operations and clinical folks working together. I’m just the BI nerd telling them where they should go next.

You’re in Waxhaw, no? I doubt we come much close to you. People from Waxhaw will drive for services, so we don’t mind making them drive.

I’m actually between Waxhaw and Monroe now, but close enough.

I made a lap through town tonight and every restaurant was at pre-Covid levels judging by vehicles in the parking lots. I guess the pandemic is over because every place I passed (Eat n Park, Ruby Tuesday, Hoss's, a few local joints) was packed.

I'm assuming a few dozen variants were born under the buffet lamps

Hoss's
At Hoss's Steak and Hoss's Sea,
You know that freshness is our specialty

Our steaks are cut fresh by the butcher each day,
And our seafood's so fresh it's like you lived by the bay.

How are those buffet places still open? My days of eating at those places are over (not that I've been to one if the last 5 years).

Yessir. My son and I would go there every other week when he's with me. It was the last restaurant we ate in. I may miss the tradition more than then the actual restaurant but I'm a sucker for all you can eat sushi.

Oh yeah I love that place. Totally grossed out by sushi buffets but I don't care. I'll put away 5 or 6 plates there easy. Top it off with some red bean and green tea ice cream.

Yeah man. The boy and I could gorge ourselves for $25 including tip. I really do miss those evenings. We'd sit on the hood of my car facing McKnight while up on that hill after we ate and watch the cars go by.

The sushi there wasn't terrible. I'd say it was even a little better than grocery-store sushi, and there was plenty of other stuff on the buffet. My bother and I went there many times. I think it's now some sort of seafood restaurant.

I haven’t been to our local buffet place in years. I called in a to go order for lunch one day, and showed up to pick it up and pay for it. Once I paid for it, the cashier went out to the buffet and scooped my order (General Tso’s Chicken) into a container, then a container of rice, bagged both up and handed it to me.

That just grossed me out for some reason.
