I agree. Being a politician doesn’t make someone more prioritized for the vaccine

If they’re part of the vulnerable population then yeah, they should be prioritized with the gen pop that has similar issues but a perfectly young and healthy AOC shouldn’t be getting it over front line workers or vulnerable people

It’s a shitty, “we’re more important than you” look

Couldn't really disagree more, but it's not a point I wish to debate.

I’m sure we can move on with our lives if all politicians caught the covid and were out of commission. That takes them off the “essential worker” list. Obviously they aren’t healthcare workers. I guess most of them are geriatrics, so that puts them 2nd or 3rd in line. Otherwise, Of the People n’at

But we all know that’s not how it works.

Politicians are not a whole lot different from other jobs. They can do their work from home. No need to vaccinate them in the first round, especially with front line workers still waiting in line. Has nothing to do with one politician over another... it’s all of them. They should be behind every single nurse, doctor, or other hospitals worker in America.

I want every person in America with a public profile/influencer footprint higher up on the vax list than 'everybody else', and I want them all to do what Pence, Gupta, and others have done and film themselves getting the shot. There's still far too much vax skepticism in this country, both generally and specific to this, so every effort must be expended to show the necessity and safety of the vaccine(s).

I had to pick up some bird seed at Tractor Supply and did the curbside delivery. During my 3 or 4 minute wait, probably a dozen people walked into and out of the store. Exactly one wore a mask. And this is in the county which, two days ago was third in the country for new covid cases per 100K.

I would love to be dressed as a Scrooge in the lobby and drop every mask less person with a taser.

I see very few people maskless in our ventures out and about, a few chin guards and noses free, but most people are wearing them.

Our issue is that big gatherings are still happening: parties, cookouts, watching the Clemson game with 25 people, and so on.

I am pretty biased on the vaccine list by being just an old dadhole. IMO after the front line workers the next ones should go by age and pre-existing conditions. Occupations should have very little to do with it. And young healthy athletes should be at the very bottom, but they will probably be pretty high on the list.

I think age and occupation is a good way to go. Hospitals are seeing people under 65 in their beds due to COVID.

I essential workers (grocery store, drug store, gas station, plumbers, electricians, cops, etc. ya know, people who have jobs where they interact with the public and can’t do it from home) should be above a retired 70 year old who is sitting at home.

Yeah, essential workers should be up there, but I still think a 70+ person with pre-existing stuff whether sitting at home or a nursing home should get one before a 30 year old healthy plumber. Of course if I was a 30 year old plumber I would want one before some oldie. :)

If that’s your argument, it’ll be more effective to have celebrities and athletes first in line. People listen to them more

I'm thinking about a certain demographic in particular as regards politicians getting their shots potentially having some degree of sway.

I'm with Tif. While congress can "work from home" etc. they are still the people running the country. It's not about them not getting it so they can't come in to work. It's about not having a member of our government dying. There aren't vice congresspeople that just move up and take their place. At least I don't think it works that way...

Actually, I don't even go inside anymore. Curbside and Amazon.
