He cited 1 Corinthians 2:5
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
That's helpful. I wonder if it was the power of god that diagnosed his heart condition.
Man... I totally get it if you are atheist/agnostic etc. But this stuff just seems so necessary. Like bullet point 1 in the r/atheism handbook.

The kid seems to be taking this very maturely and doing what he needs to do. Just don't see the need to attack his faith, it's not like he is seeking faith healing here.

It does say something about the cesspool that is Twitter what the first two responses were, as nocera and mimh pointed out.
We're in the midst of the greatest public health crisis in 100 years and he's blasting out what amounts to "pray the COVID away". F**k that guy. Right in both of his ear holes.

Maybe you shouldn’t judge people for how they deal with things.

When I first saw that post, I googled the verse (because come on, CCD was like 25 years ago) and I rolled my eyes as well. But then I went back and read what he posted in the note. He thanks his coach, his trainer, the procedures that the team put in place, and the tests that allowed the doctors to identify his condition and stop him from playing before he did more damage to himself. He only mentioned praying once in his note where he thanks everyone who reached out and prayed for him.

As a scorn former Catholic, I'm usually the first to point out **** like you did, but in this case, I didn't see anything wrong with his note.

Virus going to virus.

Yes. Then people get mad "No one's demanding lock down until zero cases!!" Then every individual positive result gets treated as breaking news & the Darren Rovell's of the world use each one as if it proves a point.

2 weeks ago I read a story that named about 10 different countries with new outbreaks and Japan recorded their record number of cases. All the way up to this morning I'm still hearing about every other country's flawless handling.

I’d love to spend 30 seconds in your head just to see what it’s like. Not permanently of course, just 30 seconds. I imagine lots of volcanoes.

I don’t understand why it’s a bracket format and not just royal rumble style.

Apparently you have to choose between the virus is hard to contain or criticizing the US for its handling of the virus now?

No. I think it’s are people going to start criticizing Europe if they start having more cases than the USA?

Of course they are. But people are naturally going to focus their criticism on their home country as it obviously affects them more.

But they are proof that if you do hard lockdowns and then easing of restrictions, that you can contain the virus?

So what's the difference between them and what we are seeing in so many other universities?

I'm curious as to how hard shad would be clutching his pearls had the kid been Muslim, Mormon, or a Scientologist.
Wait...what? Who is clutching their pearls? I just think ad hominem attacks on a person's religion that have nothing to do with their character or actions come off as needlessly mean-spirited. Especially the "your 'god' (lol) did this to you" stuff.

Have we reached a point on this board where that is now considered too conservative of an opinion? It is just common decency to me. I'm confused.

I've seen just recently overwhelming praise for countries that welded their citizens apartment doors shut because there are videos going around of "life as normal." Some big pool party concert in effing WUHAN was being used by our own media as a "haha" to the US. Meanwhile these same people lose their shitt because high school kids are practicing on outdoor fields.
