When you put people in charge of the government that hate the government it's not a surprise when they fail.

It's from the "all politicians are bad" crowd.

A spokesperson for Trump Jr., whose name is listed on the organization's website as having endorsed it, said he had minimal involvement with the We Build the Wall group.

“Don gave one speech at a single We Build the Wall event over a year ago with a group of angel moms and besides that, has no involvement with their organization,” spokesperson Amanda Miller said in a statement.
Will be interesting to see if Don Jr was getting a cut of the funds, or got paid for "consulting" or giving that speech. But I also saw that the chief huckster was shopping the donor list as a political resource. Have to imagine if that was provided directly to a campaign entity, that would be an illegal contribution.

If only Mexico would have paid for it.

Don't want to keep coming back to it, but a Citiparks (the group that sets park hours) official came out today and said Mellon Park closes at 11, which means that at the time the cops herded the protestors there, the park was still open and it was not yet an illegal assembly.

There's just so many ways this whole thing could've transpired and it feels more and more like every decision the Pittsburgh Police made after moving the protestors away from the mayor's house were the wrong ones.

Maybe Stephen Miller isn't as good as I think he is, Maybe. But he's not as bad as all of the anti-Stephen Miller people think he is.

Per the trib article recently posted it said a few protesters were pushing against the police and not following instructions which then set the cops off. Whether that's true or not I dont know. My guess its a mix due to tensions on both sides.

No one in the meeting made the case that separating families would be inhumane or immoral, the officials said. Any moral argument regarding immigration "fell on deaf ears" inside the White House, said one of the officials.

Miller saw the separation of families not as an unfortunate byproduct, but as a tool to deter more immigration. According to three former officials, he had devised plans that would have separated even more children. Miller, with the support of Sessions, advocated for separating all immigrant families, even those going through civil court proceedings, the former officials said.

While "zero tolerance" ultimately separated nearly 3,000 children from their parents, what Miller proposed would have separated an additional 25,000, including those who legally presented themselves at a port of entry seeking asylum, according to Customs and Border Protection data from May and June 2018.

Steigerwald occupies a precious zone, he’s irrelevant enough where he’s not going to face professional repercussions. But at the same time, enough well known that he gets attention when saying something offense and outlandish.

Just the perfect balance that grants us unfettered access to his unfiltered thoughts as they get pushed out onto Twitter. He’s like our own local bill Mitchell. Just a beautiful glimpse into his Neanderthal brain.

Oh.

Nice to see a mayor of a major metro area come out in support of the 2A like this. ;)

You know, on account of most of us not being mayors but having homes to defend.

I have been following political prediction markets since before 2000, and political prediction models even longer than that (1991-ish), and this year appears to be the first time in forever when the convention party does not get even a slightest prediction percentage bump by during the convention. If anything Trump actually gained almost 1% since Monday.

It may be the new normal, because I don't think that many people watch the online convention (I don't - for the first time since 1996), there still may be a bump after the actual post-convention polls come out, but still - Trump is at 41%, with stock markets going up, party convention still coming...
