So you think it's the motherboard?

It certainly sounds like it. I’d consider the power supply if you didn’t also have the sound card disappear, too. You could always try and find a cheap replacement board online.

Well, keep in mind there is no sound card. I run the speakers directly off the mobo.
It might be under warranty, though. I'm going to check out Neweggs warranty.

Yeah, I assumed onboard sound. It’d just be a weird coincidence if that went bad at the same time as something else.

I found my board on Amazon for $87. If the warranty does not work out, would there be any harm in simply buying it, and re-seating all components?

Are you running Windows 10? If so, I think you're fine swapping it out. Windows should detect the changes and automatically correct it.I found my board on Amazon for $87. If the warranty does not work out, would there be any harm in simply buying it, and re-seating all components?

Seems like ASRock will replace it under warranty. I'll be getting started on the RMA process this evening.

That's good to hear. Which board do you have? I'm on an ASRock Z97 and have zero complaints. I used to be an ASUS guy, but it's hard to beat the value of ASRock's gear.

Forgot to add - if it's possible to find out which BIOS is already loaded on the replacement board, make sure that board is at least at the same BIOS version as yours. If you have a CPU that was added on a later BIOS that the new board hasn't been upgraded to, you'll be dead in the water when you swap it out.

ASRock - H110M-HDS Micro ATX LGA1151
I'll see what I can about the BIOS.

I think if they do replace it for me under warranty, that I will buy another power supply, just in case. They are cheap and it can't hurt.

A bit **** off at Windows 10 right now. I had a laptop die two weeks ago when it went through TSA baggage screening. Pulled the SSD out of it and put it in a USB carriage so I can pull some data off of it. The drive is Bitlocker encrypted for some **** reason. 0.0% chance I have the unlock key because I wasn't even aware that it was encrypted in the first place.
I'm most annoyed because I bought some house plan software and they charge you if you want to download it again in the future. I wanted to get the installer out of my Downloads folder.

Yeah, unless you saved the key, that’s toast. I’m surprised that it was enabled by default, though, unless it was a work device/image. What’s the name of the software? I could peek around for you.

Software for what? It's my personal laptop with a Win10 install I did last year. It's Bitlocker.

Went over to a girl's house last night to hang out, and while sitting in her living room I look over at the small computer desk in the corner. Below the desk is her modem and router in a giant tangle rat's nest. I almost threw up.

Hi smarter-than-me people. I have a client who's requesting a video burned to a DVD, and since I haven't burned anything to DVD in about 10 years, I'm struggling with my old external burner. The issue is it's only connection cable is firewire (400 to 800) and my computer only has USB and USB-c inputs. I'm getting conflicting information online about firewire 800 to USB adapters - some saying they are simply much slower while others are saying they won't work at all. What say you? Is it even possible?

Sorry, can't help you with that dated and virtually abandoned technology. You can buy a brand new external DVD writer for under $30 these days.

Like any work with a client, she needs it tomorrow. So I was hoping to be able to use my dated and virtually abandoned technology. Shockingly, there's an OfficeMax that's still open in my area and they have a few in stock. Thanks for the adviceSorry, can't help you with that dated and virtually abandoned technology. Now to find some software since Adobe stopped supporting Encore in CS6.
