My wife and I went to the Breaking Benjamin, Five Finger Death Punch, Nothing More, and Bad Wolves show last night. Shes huge into Breaking Benjamin and I have a few Nothing More songs on my running playlist, so the $20 lawn seat offer earlier this summer seemed pretty good.
We missed Bad Wolves because its been a long while since I went to Star Lake and forgot just exactly how bad of a disaster getting in and out of there is.
Nothing More was pretty good. Their newer album doesn't have (in my opinion) as many good songs as the one before, and they obviously played more stuff off the album they're promoting. I was surprised by the size of the crowd they played to, since I figured this would be a "drink in the parking lot til the headliner comes on" show for most people.
Five Finger Death Punch is a band I'd hear sometimes and never think much of. I recognized nearly everything they played (including a strange cover of Gone Away by the Offspring) but I thought they put on a great live show. The singer sang better on key than most rock bands do, and I didn't notice really anything in the way of fake background Protools stuff going on.
Which is why I'd hate to be Breaking Benjamin and play after them. I always thought that band would sound so much better if they had double time drums in their music, like Story of the Year or the Used might do. And listening to over an hour of 80bpm music after a really high energy band was just a buzz kill. They sounded great (which probably had something to do with fake guitar tracks) but such slow music and I think that contributed to the steady stream of people heading for their cars.

New Nonpoint album out soon. I've seen them a few times, the first time in 2001 I think. They aren't groundbreaking, but they've been pretty consistent throughout their career.

2:48 - 3:02 "Crabcore"This video is great.
I like Allegaeon because they're supremely talented, but don't take themselves too seriously.
To wit...

@shafnutz05
It was amazing. Metallica still puts on the best live show of any metal/rock band. Slayer are the only ones who I have seen who are in the same realm live.
They played for about 2 hours 20 minutes.. maybe closer to 2 and a half hours. Set list was good. I would have liked to hear Battery, but we did get Whiplash. Seems like they play either Fade to Black or Sanitarium and we got Sanitarium which I was fine with. Spit out the Bone is awesome live. I'm pretty wiped out today. I'm old these days(35), but glad I took a day off after the concert as I'd be useless at work. My head hurts, my neck hurts, my throat is hoarse...at least my ears stopped ringing. All those things though means it was a great night.
Jim Breuer was the "opener"..along with some other DJ/Comedian that played songs by request. He was fine, he did some bits and stories etc. He went and found the oldest and youngest fan in the audience. There was a 72 year old woman there and a 7 year old and a 4 year old on the floor. 7 year old was up against the rail. Thought that was pretty cool. Your ticket probably says the show starts at 7:30, but Metallica didn't come on till almost 8:40...so guessing their actual time is 8:30ish so if you don't want to sit through the pre-show stuff as long as you are in your seat by 8:30 you are good. I took a crap ton of pics and video maybe ill upload some, but I did put one below.
The "Enhanced experience" ticket I had was nice. Got to skip the line, got a cool poster, and a little commemorative box with a metallica bottle opener and some other things. There were more things if you got a higher package, but I am not that rich haha.

Getting pumped for Thursday... Never been to a metal concert before. Wish I would have seen them years ago but alas. Wife and I are going.
\m/ THE METAL THREAD OF METAL \m/
Went to see Trivium in Cleveland last week. Avatar was an opener. I had never heard of them, despite thinking that I'm in the upper-half of metal-awareness, and despite them supposedly being featured on XM Radio.
I was thoroughly impressed. The makeup and theatrics would normally turn me off, but they were entertaining as all hell. Live show sounded straight from an album (in a good way).
They have a surprising number of videos on YouTube. Check out the live ones.

Man, that jogged my memory. I've had Avatar (Hail the Apocalypse) on my iPod for years but had forgotten about it.Went to see Trivium in Cleveland last week. Avatar was an opener. During the pre-show stuff, some scummy Philadelphian threw a full beer on stage. Jim Breuer called his ass out and put the spotlight on him. What an idiot. Classic Philly.

Metallica was incredible last night. That was more than worth the price of admission. Funny watching Kirk and Rob prance around the stage while the "old man" James lumbers around deliberately. Most notably set-wise, they pulled out freaking Phantom Lord...they rarely pull that song out and don't think they've played it for at least five years.
