Our goldendoodle is six, and just the fact that odds are she is over halfway through her lifespan is depressing.

Therapy dogs are great when used properly. My wife has seen so much joy come from patients she works with when a therapy dog is involved.
My wife worked with a former coworker of mine who had a stroke many years ago. A therapy dog was used and this guy said it really helped in his recovery. Now retired, he goes around various hospitals with his own dog and visits patients. UPMC featured him in one of their commercials a couple years back.

Indelicate topic: dog farts
How in God’s name can they be both super nasty and linger as long as they do?

As Carlin has gotten older, she just sort of...... seeps stink. She'll be asleep on the couch between us, and all of a sudden it's like someone opened a bottle of mustard gas.

Considering some dogs eat poop it shouldn't be that confusing.

Speaking of the hind end of dogs, my older pup has had a little bit of blood in his poop the last few days. Tonight is the vet appt and I’m imagining the worst, but hopefully for a simple gland infection or something.

My wife hit me with this today; as someone with a rescue who is 10 years into a 12 year life expectancy it landed on my like a ton of bricks:
An Open Letter To My Shelter Dog's First Owner
I wouldn't read it in public, heh.
