Are they really that good if children can play it?
Mozart wrote his first composition at the age of five. We're not talking about kids like you when you were in 7th grade, we're talking about people with promise and talent.
:P
I had and still have no musical talent. I have a buddy that loves tool and I just like to bust his balls. They're pretty decent actually

So I had a chance to listen to the new metallica song above last night at the gym a few times. I dig it. Has an Iron Maiden-ish feel to me at least.... love the chorus. I've enjoyed all 3 of the new songs, so really looking forward to the album.

I'm having a hard time really getting into it, to be honest. The song just seems a little fragmented to me. It may take a few more listens...

Anyone else listen to the new Chili Peppers album -- any thoughts on it? I like it a lot better than "I'm With You," which IMO suffered from bad mixing and drab choruses.

I am not and have never been a RHCP fan, but I find that there is something enjoyable about all of their albums.

Wake me up when John Frusciante is back in the band. Past two albums have been good...but Stadium Arcadium was awesome.

Phish played "Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust" in its entirety for their musical costume last night. Looking forward to hearing the audio from that.

And I'm also going to double-down and say Stadium could've stood to shed around 10 songs or so. :P

My iPhone randomly started playing music through the speakers, so I got back to my desk with Norwegian black metal (Dimmu Borgir) blaring and a few confused looking coworkers who must have thought they were about to witness some sort of sacrifice.

I listened to that today kind of randomly. I just woke up in the mood to stream some Phish, realized they just had a Halloween show, and figured they must have covered something.

I thought the Bowie set was OK. For me, Bowie's music is so tied up with his distinctive voice that it's hard to like it as much with someone else singing. I thought they did fine covering the technical aspects (as usual), but didn't put enough of a singular musical interpretation on it to overcome the vocal drop off.

Going to an Anti-Flag show tonight with a guy from work. Less than a week away from the election, this should be interesting.

In far more exciting news, Nick Cave in Pittsburgh in June. Wow. Can't wait.

Downtown Boys might be pretty good out of that lineup.

The fact that anti-flag is a thing makes me wonder how 90's skater punk never re-emerged after Blink-182 and the mainstream pop punk era.

I read "Lesser of two Elvis" and had to chuckle.
