Heard Sober on the radio last month. It's been probably 18 years since I've heard it. That song is awesome.

Is it weird that I think I'm doing something wrong if people are asking me how I'm doing things so quickly at work if I'm fairly confident I'm doing it correctly, just at a quick pace?

I'm doing everything the way it was taught to me, but I can't help but think I'm overlooking something.

It's oddly satisfying when someone gets irrationally angry at you for asking them to follow the standard policies that everyone else does, as if they are above it.

I don't know if this is bad but if I want to make sure I'm doing something the correct way I just ask.

I've, learned sometimes this can be tricky depending on the environment.

Well my wife was offered a job today. No word on salary or anything yet, formal offer was being written up and will be mailed. Sucks though as she's 6 months away from being vested at her current employer and stands to lose almost $8k in a retirement account. I guess that can be used as a bargaining chip, and I know in her mind she's already accepted the job, but I just hope it's a good salary so it softens the blow.

Rules from when I left CMU as an employee:

Departed before the vested time period (so lost their contributions), but everything I contributed stayed with me.
I completely forgot about it and "found" a bunch of money, when I rolled over my IRA and a state pension $$$ to Vanguard. It was a pleasant surprise.

Got about $1600 of fraudulent charges on my company card. To whomever had a field day in Texas, including a 1k stay at the Embassy Suites, on the company dime: Good on you.
Booking a hotel stay on a stolen credit card seems ridiculously risky, no?

You would think so. I also thought you had to present the card at the desk when you check-in. No idea. I'm just happy it was the corporate card and not my personal card.

You just have to present a card at the desk to cover incidentals. It doesn't have to be the card used to secure the reservation.

My company changed their policy and said if you travel more than 4 times per year you need a corporate card. I rarely travel but have done a ton of it this year. I do not want another card on my credit report so I'm holding out for as long as possible

Your corporate card hits your report?

Mine does not. We use CITI.

Well, they do a pull when you open the card, but the account itself does not register on my report.

If your corporate card is hitting your own credit report, then it's not a corporate card.

My corporate AMEX doesn't touch my personal credit report.

Although my credit report says I need more active revolving credit accounts.

In other news, I was lightly headhunted for a large NYC university's open Dean of Libraries position. Get real.

Update from the Gorilla: Originally slated to know by the end of this week, the decision has been punted to early next week. Not the best news, but still positive; it means I'm still in the running. Just in the data from the dozen applicants through LinkedIn, I'm up against at least two JDs.

No updates, but there are at least two more JDs in the pool just going from LinkedIn.

Source of the post That waiting is terrible.
My wife is currently waiting to hear back about a position that she applied for, and it's driving her (and subsequently me) nuts. She no longer wants to hear me tell her to stay patient.

The later it goes, I feel more and more like there's an offer out to another candidate and they're just waiting to hear back before notifying all the other applicants.
