@Silentom I hate that too...but you can turn off that feature in General settings...after you put your password in one more time.

It's useful to keep my kids from buying apps, songs, in app purchases...
Just did this, lol. This day has been a real doozy.

Not long after the iPad ordeal, I get a new set of building prints to go over and after 45 minutes of scratching my head thinking "why the hell would anyone use this architect" did I find out that the lady in charge of the prints only sent me the bottom 2 floors of a 4 story building.

A couple times a month, a group of us in the office will get together and make a big delivery order. Today is Chinese. I handle all the ordering, because most of the restaurants use delivery service apps like Eat24 or GrubHub, and I horde all the loyalty points by using my account. I sent out an email stating, "Delivery est 45 - 60 minutes. I'll pick up the tip to make it easier for you to figure out how much you owe me."

Two separate people in the group have replied asking what they owe me.

Obama passed an Executive Order on Friday, giving federal employees a half-day on Christmas Eve. My greedy co-workers (as subset of the whole) sent a petition asking for the full day, so they're butt-hurt. And the Postal employees are also butt hurt, and the Law Enforcement folks are mad at the Postal employees because LE has it the worst.

I'm fine with it. They gave us Dec 26th off last year because it's a Friday, and a full day off in 2012. Now people expect it annually and are putting on the waterworks because they got a half day instead of a full. Clowns. Use your massive pile of leave if you want to sleep in.

Came across this in another article:
During his presidency, George W. Bush gave federal employees four days off during Christmas week.
As much as I hated him, the 3.5% pay increases in the military and throwing days off around like they're candy on a parade float was baller.

And if I remember, you're a federal government employee. How many paid vacation/holidays do you get a year?
Present company excepted Dodint, federal workers are the worst.

10, and I get 6hrs of leave per pay period. I fall in the 3-15 year tier that gets 6hrs because my military service was creditable. So 29 paid days off a year.

It's just kind of embarrassing that almost 30K federal employees signed a petition when there are people out there that are fully or under employed. It's nearsighted, to me.

I'm not the only federal employee on the board, but they can speak for themselves if they want.

Eh... I know companies that get the week between Christmas and New Years off, plus 5 day weekends for thanksgiving. Not including other random holidays. I don't feel bad.

I don't feel bad about getting the time off. The reality is the building is already going to be empty anyway. I wouldn't petition for it, though.

It's not that you should feel bad about getting the time off, certainly not. But to feel entitled as some do. As compared to most in private industry, you've got good benefits, excellent time off, A great pension...

I wouldn't want a GS position myself, but there are far worse gigs.

It has its perks. I mean, I just scheduled my gym times through 2017 on my calendar. There is a certain comfort in that stability. ;)

Where I'm at now is the first place I've ever worked in California where I do not get the Friday after Thanksgiving, or the entire week between Christmas and New Years off. Even have to work NYE.

Our 2016 holiday schedule was published a week or so ago; nine days off.

Source of the post Where I'm at now is the first place I've ever worked in California where I do not get the Friday after Thanksgiving, or the entire week between Christmas and New Years off. Even have to work NYE.
I work 5/4-9 Compressed, so I have every other Friday off. Due to a quirk in scheduling I have NYE/NYD off because NYD is on a Friday this year and it's my regular day off, so the holiday moves to the day prior for me. So every time Christmas/NYD falls on a Friday I'm guaranteed to get the entirety of one of the holidays off.

Because of the SDO, from Nov 16th-January 3rd thanks to the placement of holidays I do not work a full week. The one time I would've worked a full week, my wife was in that accident and I took two days off.

Wooooooooooooooooooo.

a 60+ lady on facebook feed complaining about the thermometer reading in her car, with an accompanying picture. considering her tenuous grasp on the world around her combined with the certainty that it would take her 5 minutes to work her camera...it's not a question of IF anyone died - just how many.

I work for a large insurance company. We get Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Years Day off. We don't have off the time between then, but most take vacation or work from home.

If Christmas is on a Thursday we have gotten the Friday off as well. If Christmas is on a Saturday/Sunday we get the Friday/Monday off.

People whining about someone acting entitled is definitely a pet peeve. Being rude is not being entitled, its just rude.
