I'm pretty indifferent on that happening.

On Voytik leaving? Would have been nice to have him as a backup. Not many schools can boast his kind of experience in your #2. I guess Bertke will be Petermans backup?

It would be nice to have him, but I can't fret over him wanting to start. If that makes sense.

Boyd, Conner, Biz, and Price have filed paperwork with the NFL for draft evaluation.

Dreams do come true. Jim Chaney to Georgia as OC. Now I really want Voytik to stick around because I don't necessarily trust Chaney's boy Peterman without Chaney.

Edit: Looks like Chris James, who looked really bad this year, is transferring as well.

Wow no way. Sanders liked Chaney. Hope this doesn't affect recruiting too much

John Peterson is the primary recruiter for all of Pitt's offensive recruits. Chaney had an auxiliary role with a couple guys (Macvattie and Moss) but he wasn't on the trail much and was never the primary contact.

Lol I was gonna come in here and say Dickie Dunn got an early Xmas present

I would grade Chaney a 7 out of 10 this year so I liked him a bit more (I concede those toss sweeps on 3rd and short with a back like Ollison were infuriating) but he was a good hire with experience as OC in the SEC. Let's hope they open the checkbook for the new hire like they did when they hired Chaney.

I admit I don't know if there are any internal candidates for a promotion to OC. Anyone know?

Oh man a Walt Harris suggestion on panther lair. I know it's semi-joking and Walt Is almost 70 so he's not gonna be a big recruiter which disqualifies him (and he hasn't coached since serving as OC at CUP shoutout to @Juice @malkintent ) but from a pure coaching standpoint he would be great.

I'm interested to see if Narduzzi goes with a personal connection that might be promoted from positions coach or an established offensive coordinator.

According to many 5AF posters, Dana Holgerson will be available.

Why would Pitt hire two RBs from WVU to run their offense?

I actually still root for Shell. He has one more year right? Notwithstanding how things went down at Pitt, he's a local guy with kids. Go make some cheese in the nfl

He does have a year left. He's vastly inferior to Smallwood though. Shell often looks like he's just going through the motions out there. Like his heart isn't into it. Every now and then he seems to focus and show flashes of that guy that broke all of the state rushing records while he was at Hopewell. It just doesn't happen anywhere near often enough.

New Jersey player of the year Phil Campbell has switched from Rutgers to Pitt. Projects as a safety.

It's not the 8 wins; it's not the way they actually looked; it's not the momentum the program has; it's when you start flipping recruits from high level football program Rutgers that you know Narduzzi has made a difference.

For those of you who watched more ACC games than I did this year, Deshaun Watson of Clemson, what's the toughest pass rush he'd have faced this year? Pitt had arguably the best defensive front in the ACC this year right? But they didn't play Clemson.

Based solely on stats, the answering surprisingly appears to be Boston College. They were third in the ACC with 34 sacks (behind Clemson with 38 and Pitt with 37) and sacked Watson 3 times. Louisville was 4th in the ACC with 33 sacks and they only got to him once.

Edit: Digging into this a bit further, what in God's name was going on with BC's offense this season? They were first in the ACC with 183 points allowed, 3rd in sacks, 5th in interceptions, 4th in fumbles recovered, 2nd nationally in rushing defense, 8th nationally in passing defense, and 4th nationally in scoring defense. All of that completely negated by the worst scoring offense in the ACC, putting them at 121st nationally with 17.2 ppg.
