If he stopped, the Detective put his hands on the car, and Scheffler drove off with the cop still touching the car that's all on Scheffler. That's not what eyewitness reports indicated however.

From my experience, the entrance to Valhalla is off a busy US route that has nothing else around the course. So why a pedestrian found themselves trying to cross it when there's no bridges or infrastructure in place to traffic those pedestrians is mystifying. You can't blame the PGA for not having foresight to construct one of those things because there's zero reason for a person to be trying to cross that street (of course, they could live within walking distance but that's not enough to build a bridge). At 5am, I would think there should be police presence out there because the first tee time was 7:25 so players and support staff should be arriving around that time. Having to close that roadway for an accident investigation is a giant nightmare and PGA had to delay play because everyone would have been late.
So now as it pertains to Scottie, I guess it's all in what you believe. If others are going around the barrier, how did the officer miss the giant PGA Championship logo on both sides of the car? How does Scottie just not stop and get clarification from the officer before continuing on? Why does the officer grab on to the car? Cuz at that point, once he grabs the car and the car starts moving, the driver isn't going to get any benefit of the doubt and he's lucky that the cop pulled the flashlight and not his gun (maybe that's different if Finau or Theegala was driving...sad that even has to be said). It sounds like a pretty giant misunderstanding but one that ended the life of $80 pants. Scottie's arraignment is Tuesday and it would be hilarious if he walked into court holding the Wanamaker if he wins it on Sunday.

Not that it changes anything you said, just adding the detail that the pedestrian that was killed was a vendor walking into work. I don't know if they have a designated area to park or what.

Scott Van Pelt doesn't bring much to the broadcast. It's like watching golf with EveryMan except he has a jilted delivery and never says anything interesting.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned if they lived within walking distance as there are a couple of small neighborhoods near the course. Typically, the vendors have their own parking lot and they get shuttled in, especially at a place like Valhalla that has very little to no near-site parking. The only area that has a designated pedestrian walkway is from the rideshare lot. Again, just an incredibly unfortunate situation that also makes me wonder how someone can't see a bus coming.

I don't disagree with you here. Nice guy, good host, good interviewer, but he's better off setting up all these analysts instead of calling it himself. It's almost like watching Berman do the golf minus the nicknames and the schtick.Scott Van Pelt doesn't bring much to the broadcast. The officer grabbing onto the car is beyond stupid. That sort of thing is for saving a baby trapped in a moving car that doesn’t have a driver in it anymore.

Dude gets arrested, mugshotted, and still goes out and shoots a 66.

Brooks still shows up. But didn’t care about non majors when he was on the pga tour and he doesn’t care about LIV tour events either. Just listened to Schaffer’s press conference. Seems like a good guy and is handling this really well.

Lowry needed a birdie on the reachable Par 5 18th for the first 61 in major history and just missed the putt. Damn.

Mysteriously no body cam footage available of the incident. There should be a law that any case that is reliant on police testimony should be immediately thrown out if there is no video.
