My irons are a set of “p3 bro” from gigagolf. I love them. And I love knockoff clubs.

Golf is stupid.
At the range. Made one small change to my address routine, and now I can suddenly hit irons longer than my 7.

I also went to the range, and with the driver I discovered that if I don't ground the club at address, I am hitting it 20-30 yards further on average. I was equally stunnedGolf is stupid.

Got to work out the kinks with driver and the wedges, but feeling confident about the tweaks.
Hit the best 4 iron of my life on the 5th. Piped a drive to 200 in. Ball slightly below my feet. Decided if there was ever a time, this was it. Absolutely pured it a little left of the green. Took a hop and ended up pin high on the left fringe. Just missed the eagle putt and had a tap in for birdie.

Was playing around with the golf stats that I track (effectively the metrics OP described last year).
In my last 10 rounds, i am playing ~9 strokes over par. 35.5 putts, 53% GIR, and 20% scrambling. I am just appalled by those short game numbers, granted the GIR number might be inflated because the courses are easy (North Park, Lindenwood, Cedarbrook, Strawberry Ridge, Butlers, Cranberry Highlands, Oglebay).
A couple weeks ago I had 14 GIR and shot a 78. I think I try to hit different chip shots all the time. I really should just learn one ball position, one stance, one club. Figure that out, then try to do bump and runs or flops. I think I need a weekly short game practice day till i get those numbers respectable. If I just keep the same GIR, and get the scramble % to 50, then I am down to a ~77 scoring average.

Sounds very similar to a buddy of mine. Averages 82. 8 handicap, 54% gir, like 36 putts a round. I always tell him he needs to just start going after pins and stop just playing for the biggest part of the green all of the time. At least for him, the 36 putts is a product of being consistently 20 to 30 feet from the hole every time he has a GIR. He’s an accurate dude but too conservative. If he worked on getting closer to the hole, he would cut down on those putts. But he is a girly man so he is happy with being a single digit with 36 putts a round.
So that’s my observation even though I am not that good at golf.

Interesting, but dissimilar. I think the only time I'll go conservative is when I am in-between clubs and the number i'm confident in is at a safe spot of the green. My lag putting is getting pretty good and I feel like I convert those to pars very well. I am more likely to 3-putt an 18ft putt than a 30 ft putt (two times in a row last week). My GIR conversion is ~93%, so that's basically 8-9 pars or better with the > 50% GIR.Sounds very similar to a buddy of mine. Averages 82. 8 handicap, 54% gir, like 36 putts a round. And this is where the mental game is also collapsing. If I mishit an approach and miss the green, my mind is going "good bogey you dumb dadhole". Just immediately discouraged.

Benefits of playing in an oncoming storm - par 3, 145 yds, normally an 8. Wind whipping 25 mph at my back and hit the PW. Hole high left of green. Gonna be a fun pitch when they let us back out there.

Alrighty... PGA championship. My picks can't possibly be worse than the ones I had for the masters in our majors pick game at work.
I had Rory and Finau who did just fine, but then Hovland, Thomas, and Spieth all decided to miss the cut.
So who do I have for this weekend (just so you know who not to bet on)?
Scheff, Morikawa, Cantlay, Schauffele, and Fowler... yes, RICKY FOWLER!

With the obvious that I don't really know anything, but I think this course will reward guys that hit it far.
Rory, Scheffler, Aberg, Koepka, Rahm, and Schauffle are probably good picks.

So there’s an accident near the club, they block all the roads. Scheffler tried to drive around. Sorry, the golfers are importantl and the cops needed to allow for them to get through. And they chase him down and arrest him?

Scheffler of all people getting arrested is unbelievable. Like if it was Koepka, I’d be like, ok. But scheffler? Giving attitude? Cmon

Backwoods cop with no training detains a professional athlete trying to enter the grounds because they don't have the training to properly deal with the situation?
Color me shocked.
